Baker City Bronc and Bull Riding returns Friday and Saturday, July 16 and 17.

BAKER CITY — Miners Jubilee traditionally marks the middle of summer in Baker City, and this year the three-day celebration returns July 16-18 after a one-year hiatus.

Vendors will be selling wares in Geiser-Pollman Park all weekend, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday.

The Jubilee tradition of breakfast in the park served by the Baker City Lions Club is happening Saturday and Sunday from 7-11 a.m. Cost is $10 adults, $8 children.

The traditional Jubilee parade begins at 11 a.m. Saturday and floats wind through downtown. This year’s theme is “Friends in Gold Places.”

The Lions Club also hosts a horseshoe tournament on Saturday at 2 p.m. The single-elimination play has categories for men, women and co-ed teams of two. Entry is $5 per person. Broncs and Bulls

After a cancellation in 2020, the Baker City Bronc and Bull Riding returns to the Miners Jubilee. The broncs are Friday, July 16, at 7 p.m., and the bull riding event starts at 6 p.m. Saturday, July 17.

History

The National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center will be set up outside Baker Heritage Museum on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Staff will give living history demonstrations and lead family-friendly activities that focus on mining and the early settlement of Baker Valley.
