- Make & Take Art Kits are available for purchase on Art Center East’s website.
LA GRANDE — In June, Art Center East launched its newest offering: Take & Make Art Kits. More than 20 artist-created kits for a variety of ages are live on the art center’s website, and more are on the way. Purchase them online, then enjoy a screen-free art experience with written instructions and all the supplies needed to busy your hands and stir up your creativity.
ACE staff discussed many goals while creating the new program. Here are a few they listed:
Bring art-making to the community in a newly accessible way.
Provide quality instruction that allows for more schedule flexibility during the busy summer months.
Support local and national artists alike.
Decrease screen-time fatigue by including written instructions rather than online, making them perfect when you need a screen-time break or a project to take camping or on a trip.
Art Center East’s website put it this way: “During these ever-changing times, access to the arts is more important than ever. ACE strives to continue creating offerings that ensure our community can easily and affordably bring new knowledge and joy into everyday life.”
If you are excited to learn about a new medium or process, go to www.artcentereast.org/learn/classes/take-make-art-kits and select a kit. There are a variety of kits for a range of ages and bank accounts. (The kits for youth suggest a donation amount, or select the kit for free.)
For those who can’t decide which kit (or kits) to try, ACE offers a Mystery Art Kit subscription for $40 a month. Sign up for a month or up to a full year. The art center staff will curate a kit for you each month.
You may pick up the kits at the art center, 1006 Penn Ave., La Grande, or choose local delivery (within La Grande City limits) or domestic shipping.
After you take it and make it, share your project on Instagram or Facebook with #artcentereast.
