About the writers
Zanni Schauffler has a master’s in writing from Portland State University and a master’s in fine arts from the University of California, Irvine. She left her native Portland 14 years ago to escape “the city poetry social scene,” she said, and came to Wallowa County to work at Fishtrap. A published poet and the recipient of an Oregon Literary Arts Fellowship in Poetry, Schauffler is a consummate artist who is working on a novel, writing poetry, painting pictures and always reading.
Jim Dameron splits his time between Portland and Lostine. An essayist and poet, his work has appeared in “The Missouri Review,” “AGNI,” “Mid-American Review,” “Northwest Review” and “Post Road.” Three of his essays have been cited as notable by the editors of The Best American Essays (2000, 2005 and 2013).
Ginger Berry, a freshman in high school, lives in Enterprise and attends Oak Meadow High School online. With a love of writing, she has attended the past three Summer Fishtrap workshops. Outside her academic pursuits, she said she enjoys cooking, reading, dancing and playing with her two dogs.
