WALLOWA COUNTY — Library activities are slowly returning to Wallowa County to the delight of children and parents.

Enterprise

Building Healthy Families sponsors storytime at the Enterprise Public Library, 101 N. First St., every Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m.

“We are really glad to get storytime back as we are kind of getting back to normal,” said Librarian Denine Rautenstrauch.

Storytime, she said, is held in the library’s basement room and includes a craft project that corresponds with the story.

Children younger than 5 are not required to wear a mask, Rautenstrauch said, but adults and older children must be masked to enter the building. She said people are coming into the library more and more, but porch pickup to check out books is still available.

Wallowa

In Wallowa, Librarian Holly Goebel said they too have a partnership with Building Healthy Families, but are not open for in-person programming because of COVID-19 precautions. Instead, families can pick up storytime to-go kits that include a book and craft project.

Despite the lack of in-house offerings, Goebel said the library is hosting a community art contest to redesign the library cards.

“The contest is open to all ages and the community will vote on the winner,” she said.

Joseph

No programming is available currently at the Joseph Library. Librarian Eric Shoudel said they had a summer reading program that ended when school started. Visit www.josephoregon.org/index.php/city-services/library for more information.
