Start your Thanksgiving Day with a Turkey Trot

Thanksgiving Day is traditionally about the feast, but organizations across Eastern Oregon are offering a way to get a little exercise and give back to the community before sitting down to the table.
Here’s a look at three fun run/walk events planned for Thanksgiving on Thursday, Nov. 25.
BAKER CITY
The 15th annual “Walk/Run to Feed the Hungry” Turkey Trot returns to an in-person event this year. Proceeds benefit the Northeast Oregon Compassion Center, and participants are asked to bring a donation of nonperishable food to the starting line.
The run starts at 9 a.m. in front of Kicks Sports, 1801 Main St. Entry is $15. Register on the day of the race from 7:30-8:45 a.m. For more information, visit www.facebook.com/NortheastOregonCompassionCenter.
HERMISTON
The Turkey Day 5K in Hermiston benefits the Eastern Oregon Mission. The event starts at 9 a.m. at the Oxbow Trail, off Northwest 11th Street and West Elm Avenue Extension.

PENDLETON
You have several options of distance at Pendleton’s Turkey Trot — choose 1 mile, 5K or 10K. Registration is $15 for adults, $10 for youth. People are encouraged to dress in costumes. Also, well-behaved dogs on leashes are welcome.
