UMATILLA — If you are looking for a fun and educational activity to enjoy with your baby, the Umatilla Beats for Babies class is for you.
The first of its kind in the area, Beats for Babies is a music/sensory class that gives children ages 0-48 months the opportunity to bond with other kids, spend quality time with parents outside, play instruments and listen and sing to educational songs.
“There is a huge benefit to this class because there really are not many opportunities here for children of this age to interact,” said Hannah Keister, community development coordinator.
Genesis Zuniga, instructor and creator of Beats for Babies, noticed the lack of infant and toddler activities in the Umatilla area and took the initiative to create an affordable and safe space for children to learn.
Zuniga said she also wanted to give parents the opportunity to connect with other parents to share stories, offer advice and feel a sense of community.
Keister said another benefit of the class is to “make connections while also being affordable for everyone in our community.”
