Baker City welcomes motorcycles July 7-10
BAKER CITY — The Baker City Motorcycle Rally is happening July 7-10. This rally, termed the Resurrection Rally, was organized by Shameless Tees after the annual Hells Canyon Motorcycle Rally was canceled for the third year in a row.
Events begin Thursday, July 7, and the rally is set for 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Friday, July 8, and Saturday, July 9, on Main Street. The last day, July 10, is from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Camping is available, and a poker run is slated for July 9. For all the details and registration packets, go to www.thebcmr.com.
Tour gardens and support CASA
BAKER CITY — The inaugural CASA Garden Tour is planned for Saturday, July 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The tour is $15, and maps will be sold at Compass Real Estate, corner of Main and Campbell streets, between 8:45 a.m. and noon on July 9. The tour features six yards of various sizes. Two are several miles outside of town on Pocahontas Road.
This event is a fundraiser for CASA of Eastern Oregon, which covers Baker, Union, Malheur, Lake and Harney counties. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) provides every abused or neglected child in Eastern Oregon with a caring, consistent adult to advocate for their well-being in court. Catch an outdoor concert in Pendleton
PENDLETON — Pendleton Parks & Recreation and Sounds Like Entertainment have announced a free summer concert series happening Wednesdays in Roy Raley Park.
All concerts are 6-8 p.m. and feature a mix of local, regional and national music acts, local food vendors, and a beer/wine garden for those 21 and older. Here’s July’s schedule:
- July 13: MAITA — Portland, moody indie-rock
- July 20: Jamie Nasario — Pendleton, soul
- July 27: Kate Dinsmore, Seattle, soulful singer-songwriter
Baker City youth present ‘Macbeth’
BAKER CITY — Eastern Oregon Regional Theatre is presenting a 45-minute version of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth” with a long subtitle: “A kid’s cautionary tale concerning greed, power, mayhem and other current events.”
This youth production can be seen July 8-10, at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday, at the theater, 2101 Main St.

Cheyenne West to rock The General Store
SPRAY — Describing herself as “a country girl with a serious rockin’ issue,” Cheyenne West is saddled up and ready to perform in Spray. The show is Friday, July 8, 7-9 p.m. at The General Store, 208 Main St. People are invited to hang out on the porch as West and her band play country favorites.

Hermiston theater offers free movies for kids
HERMISTON — Hermiston Stadium 8 Cinema, 355 W. Theater Lane, is throwing open its doors for Free Summer Movies for Kids. Sponsored by Advanced Pediatric Dentistry, the free flicks are Wednesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 25. Adults accompanying kids are welcome at no charge.

A visit with author Jane Kirkpatrick
HERMISTON — Jane Kirkpatrick, an award-winning Oregon author and speaker is featured during Hermiston’s One Book, One Path Community Read. The community read features Kirkpatrick’s “The Healing of Natalie Curtis.”
The author will discuss her writing process and read from her 2021 historical novel on July 14, 6 p.m. at the Hermiston Public Library, 235 E. Gladys Ave.

LA GRANDE — The Parks & Rec Riverside Concert Series returns to Riverside Park on Thursdays from 6-8 p.m., sponsored by the La Grande Arts Commission and featuring local musicians. If the weather is bad, the show moves into the pavilion. The upcoming lineup includes Wayne Worthen July 7, Lori LaRayne July 14, Calico Bones Music July 28, Chris Baron Aug. 4 and Brian Mandella Aug. 18. Check the city website for updates on the schedule.
Community dance features live music by Terry LaMont
LA GRANDE — Terry LaMont will provide the music for a community dance on Saturday, July 9, 6-9 p.m., at the Union County Senior Center, 1504 N. Albany St., La Grande. Admission is $5 or free for ages 12 and younger. The evening includes a finger-food potluck.
Summer concerts at Geiser-Pollman Park
BAKER CITY — Sunday afternoons bring music to Geiser-Pollman Park for the Powder River Music Review, organized by Baker City Events.
Sunday, July 10, brings D’Club L’Eveque to the stage, featuring John Woodard. The music starts at 4 p.m. at the Powder River Pavilion.
Attendance is free, although donations are welcome. Also, raffle tickets are sold ($5 each or $20 for 15) for the chance to win weekly prizes donated by local businesses. Sales from raffle tickets help support the series, which brings musicians to play every Sunday in the summer. Miners Jubilee weekend, July 15-17, features three days of music in the park.
Take a summer art class at Crossroads in Baker City
BAKER CITY — Ginger Rembold has several classes coming up at Crossroads Carnegie Art Center, 2020 Auburn Ave. Register at crossroads-arts.org or call 541-523-5369.
The Art of Bookfolding is set for July 12, 6-8 p.m. This is for ages 12 and older who will learn how to turn a hardcover book into a work of art. Cost is $16 for Crossroads members, or $24 nonmembers.
Then, Rembold will offer a tie-dye class July 14, 6-8 p.m. All the dye, soda ash fixer, string, rubber bands, etc., provided. Bring prewashed 100% cotton items to dye. Cost is $16 members, $24 nonmembers and $1 per item dyed.
Ryan Kitson will teach a “crash course” in pottery for adults is set for July 14, 6-8 p.m. This class is a quick introduction to wheel throwing. Cost is $30 member, $45 nonmember and a $10 free for clay and firing.
Learn to knit at Art Center East
LA GRANDE — A four-session class on knitting fundamentals begins July 10 and meets and meets Sundays through July 31, 5-7 p.m., at Art Center East, 1006 Penn Ave.
This class offers an open forum for beginner and intermediate knitters to develop and refine their skills. Students will learn the fundamentals of knitting from needle composition, yarn fiber content, basic steps and pattern reading. This class will also cover the basics of “sheep to shawl” (from creation of yarn to finished project). All supplies are included. Please enter through the Fifth Street door.

Activities continue at Josephy Center
JOSEPH — Every Friday, the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture offers “Family Crafty Friday.” This free gathering is from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. every Friday for visitors to create anything they’d like from the supplied materials, or follow a ready-made project idea. Youth ages 12 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.
Another free activity is wine glass painting every Wednesday, 5-7 p.m. Glasses are donated to the Wallowa Valley Festival of the Arts (or keep yours for a $10 donation).
Also offered mid-week is Walk-in Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-noon. Cost is $20, and participants will explore various artistic techniques and mediums. The first Wednesday of each month is watercolor with Dawn Norman.
On July 9 and 10, Steve Arment will offer a two-day relief wood carving workshops from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Cost is $195.
July’s Brown Bag presentation is set for July 19 at noon. This session will be held at Moonshine Glass, 624 S. River St. in Enterprise. Owner and artist Sterling Webb will give a live hot glass demonstration and tour of his studio.
At the center, the exhibit “Heartwood” featuring Steve Arment and Anna Vogel continues through July 25.
