Summer nights = outdoor movie time

Organizations across Eastern Oregon are offering outdoor movie nights, so grab some snacks and blankets and take in a family-friendly film on a warm summer evening.
Hermiston
Hermiston Parks and Recreation sets up the outdoor screen on Fridays at Butte Park, 1210 NW Seventh St. Here’s the schedule:
- July 8, 8:45 p.m.: Ghostbusters: Afterlife
- July 15, 8:45 p.m.: American Underdog
- July 22, 8:30 p.m.: Clifford the Big Red Dog
- July 29, 8:30 p.m.: Beethoven

Pendleton
Pendleton Parks and Recreation’s outdoor movies are held at Community Park, 1531 SW 44th St. Pre-movie activities include kickball, cornhole, flag football and a concession stand.

- Aug. 5: Godzilla vs. Kong

John Day
Go Outside — a project of the John Day Canyon City Parks and Recreation District — and Painted Sky Center for the Arts are sponsoring four outdoor movie nights on the football field at Grant Union High School. The movies will begin at dusk.
Planned showings are:
- July 9: Boss Baby
- July 23: The Mitchells vs. the Machines
- Aug. 6: Bad Guys
- Aug. 20: Clifford the Big Red Dog
Baker City
Baker County Safe Communities Coalition will sponsor a movie in Central Park, just east of Resort Street in downtown Baker City, on Thursday, July 7, around 8:45 p.m.
This is in collaboration with Baker Early Learning Center, New Directions Northwest and Summer Academy.

Irrigon
The Irrigon Event Plaza, 420 Main St., is the place to be on Tuesdays. The Irrigon Farmers Market runs from 6-8:30 p.m.
After making purchases from local vendors — including produce and baked goods — stick around for Movies on the Plaza. The free flicks start around sunset just as the market is closing. The schedule includes:

- Aug. 2: The Wizard of Oz
- Aug. 9: Sing

La Grande
La Grande Parks and Recreation, along with the Union County Safe Communities Coalition, will sponsor three movie nights at Pioneer Park (Palmer Avenue, between Cedar and Alder streets). Attendance is free, and the film begins at dusk. Be sure to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Here’s the schedule:

- July 29: Raya and the Lost Dragon
- Aug. 19: Detective Pikachu
Umatilla
As part of Umatilla Parks and Recreation’s summer programming, Movies in the Park is offered on select Fridays. The shows start at dusk at Umatilla Marina & RV Park, 1710 Quincy Ave. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and snacks. Free popcorn will be provided. Upcoming dates are:
