PENDLETON — The season isn’t quite over, but the Pendleton Farmers Market will celebrate 2022 with its annual Block Party on Pendleton’s Main Street.
“The block party is a way to thank our vendors and patrons for supporting the market while securing funds to keep the market operating,” PFM president Hal McCune said.
The Pendleton Farmers Market is a nonprofit organization, and the block party helps the event operate during the market season, which lasts from May until mid-October. Funds raised go toward booking musical entertainment during the market and to pay the market manager.
Last year’s block party was canceled because of a fall increase in COVID-19 cases in Umatilla County, but the farmers market is moving forward with the event this year.
The 2022 Pendleton Farmers Market block party is from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, in the 400 block of Main Street. The event overlaps with the “regular” Pendleton Farmers Market activities.
On Sept. 30, the farmers market will be operating as usual from 4-7 p.m. on the 300 and 400 blocks of Main Street. During that time , visitors can make bids on silent auction items throughout the market.
The auction winners will be announced when the market closes at 7 p.m., and the action shifts down to the 400 block for the block party.
From 6-9 p.m., a beer garden will operate in front of Great Pacific, Brian Mandella of La Grande will provide live music, and games and “other forms of revelry” will be available.
The Pendleton Farmer’s Market has less than one month left for the 2022 season. Find out more about the market, vendors and scheduled entertainment at www.pendletonfarmersmarket.net.
