BMCC library hosting exhibit about housing discrimination

“Anywhere But Here: A History of Housing Discrimination in Oregon” is a temporary exhibit at the BMCC library.

PENDLETON — The Blue Mountain Community College library is hosting “Anywhere But Here: A History of Housing Discrimination in Oregon,” a display presented by the Fair Housing Council of Oregon.

The exhibit will continue through Oct. 24.

According to a press release from BMCC, “the goal of the exhibit is to educate the community on impediments to fair housing in Oregon. The display chronicles Oregon’s history of discrimination, segregation and displacement, as well as the progress made in overcoming this history and the challenges that remain.”

The exhibit was created by the Fair Housing Council of Oregon (FHCO). FHCO is a statewide civil rights organization that proactively promotes housing justice, equity and inclusion. Their mission is to end illegal housing discrimination and promote equal access to housing choice through education and enforcement of fair housing law. Learn more at www.fhco.org.

The exhibit is sponsored by the BMCC Library, which is located in Pioneer Hall and open Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m.
