Catch the spirit at Christmas on the Prairie

PRAIRIE CITY — A “Strawberry Mountain Christmas” is coming to Prairie City on Saturday, Nov. 19, as part of the annual Christmas on the Prairie celebration.
The day begins early with a 5K fun run/walk at Depot Park. Registration starts at 8 a.m. and the race begins at 8:30 a.m. Entry is a donation to the Tree of Giving — either monetary or a toy. Participants are encouraged to dress in festival attire for the chance to win a prize.

Celebrate Christmas on the Prairie – Strawberry Mountain Christmas on November 19th
Prairie City – The 2022 Christmas on the Prairie ‘Strawberry Mountain Christmas’ will take place on Saturday, November 19th. The day will start with a 5K Fun Run at Depot Park – registration at 8:00am, race starts at 8:30am. From 8:00am-10:00am, the Prairie Baptist Church Youth Group will be hosting a Pancake Breakfast at the Teen Center. The annual American Legion Auxiliary Holiday Bazaar runs from 9:00am-4:00pm at the Prairie City School Cafeteria, with cinnamon rolls in the morning and a lunch mid-day.
The Greater Prairie City Community Association (GPCCA) will be hosting Santa and all the fun events for children at the Prairie City Community Center. Starting the festivities off at 11:00am with a Children’s Christmas Program, followed by Santa’s arrival at 11:30am. Local business, Yellow Sage Photography, will be taking Santa and/or family photos throughout the day – so get dressed up and come grab a family photo for those Christmas cards. GPCCA will also provide fun activities for children
from cookie decorating to writing letters to Santa. Please bring your kids out to enjoy the festivities.
At 4:30pm, the tree lighting will happen at the big city center tree, with Santa there to turn on the beautiful lights. Warm drinks, cookies, and heaters will be out for all to enjoy.
Closing off the fun-filled day, the Prairie City Cheerleaders will be hosting The Polar Express movie night at the Prairie City Community Center. Come see The Polar Express on the big screen.
Throughout the day, there will be a Strawberry Mountain Ornament Hunt with ornaments painted by Prairie City students. The ornament hunt will coincide with the school art contest. Pick up a form at various downtown businesses, the bazaar, or the community center to participate. Visit our participating downtown businesses to spot the Strawberry Mountain ornaments and the community center to judge all the art. When you are finished, turn the entry into Bar WB to be entered in the drawing for ornaments and a gift basket. Please visit and support our local businesses. We hope to see you all there!
