Organizations around Eastern Oregon are planning special meals for the community on Thanksgiving, Nov. 24.
Baker City
Calvary Baptist Church will have a free Thanksgiving Day meal on Thursday, Nov. 24 from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Browning Hall at the church, 2130 Fourth St.
Boardman
In its 14th year, the Community Thanksgiving Dinner in Boardman is Thursday, Nov. 24 at the Port of Morrow Riverfront Center, 2 E. Marine Drive. It begins with a praise service at 1:30 p.m. The free meal will be served from 2-4 p.m.

Enterprise
A community Thanksgiving dinner is set for 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 24, at Cloverleaf Hall, 600 NW First St. The meal is free.
Heppner
Gateway Cafe and Elohim Covenant Ministry are hosting the Heppner Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday, Nov. 24, 1 p.m. at Gateway Cafe, 168 N. Main St. People are invited to bring side dishes, salads, desserts or beverages to share.

Hermiston
The first of two free holiday meals in Hermiston is offered on Thanksgiving Day. The Community Fellowship Dinner is Thursday, Nov. 24, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Hermiston High School, 600 S. First St.
Since the onset of the global pandemic, the meal was shifted to a takeout model the past two years. In celebration of the holiday meal ministry’s 40th anniversary, CFD Chairman Gary Humphreys said he and the rest of the board are excited to resume the “fellowship” part of the dinner.

John Day
The John Day Elks Club will serve the annual community Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, Nov. 24, 1-4 p.m. at the lodge, 140 NE Dayton St.
The meal is free to all Grant County residents, who are welcome to eat at the lodge or take their food home with them. Delivery is available for disabled and homebound community members — call the lodge at 541-575-1824 and leave a message with your name, address, phone number and how many meals you will need.
Volunteers are needed — to volunteer, call 541-575-1824 or stop by the Elks Lodge to sign up for a shift.
Island City
Faith Center invites the community to a free Thanksgiving dinner with food, family and fellowship on Thursday, Nov. 24, 3 p.m. in the Next Gen building, 10208 S. D St. Doors open at 11 a.m. for those who would like to cook together. For details, call Brooke, 541-663-6589.
Milton-Freewater
A Thanksgiving dinner featuring turkey, ham, mashed potatoes and gravy, dressing, cranberry sauce, bread, salad and iced tea/coffee is being served up at Milton-Freewater Elks Lodge No. 2146. Those planning to attend are invited to bring a favorite holiday dish or dessert to share.

The Salvation Army Pendleton Corps will host its annual community Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday, Nov. 24, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 150 SE Emigrant Ave. Deliveries for senior citizens, shut-ins and those with disabilities need to be arranged by Wednesday, Nov. 23. Also, volunteers are needed.

The Saddle Restaurant & Lounge will revive its tradition of serving a free Thanksgiving dinner to its patrons. It is Thursday, Nov. 24, noon at 2220 S.E.
