Ready for a snow day?

NORTH POWDER — Snowstorms coated the mountains with enough powder that Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort opened on Dec. 2.

And now, as is tradition, the ski area will be open every day through Jan. 1 — with the exception of a closure on Christmas Day, Dec. 25. Santa will even take a break from gift duty to hit the slopes on Christmas Eve — he’ll be skiing from 10 a.m. to noon. That day the area closes early, at 1 p.m. Lift tickets will be $5 off the regular price.

Regular hours

For the rest of the operation days through Jan. 1, the ski resort is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. After that, the area is open Thursday through Sunday, plus Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Presidents Day.

Lift tickets must be purchased online at anthonylakes.com/winter/day-tickets/. The cost is: $50 adults; $45 students, college and military; and $35 for ages 7-12. After 1 p.m., lift tickets are $10 off.

Tickets are free for ages 6 and younger and 70 and older.

Support Local Thursdays

On Thursdays, bring a recent receipt for $40 or more (within seven days of your planned visit) from a small, locally owned shop or restaurant, and purchase a $25 lift ticket at the ticket booth when you arrive. These are not available online.

5th & 6th Grade Sundays

Anthony Lakes will again offer a free program for youth in grades 5 and 6. It is held on Sundays starting Jan. 8 and continues for eight weeks. Participants receive a free lift ticket, rental and mandatory lesson. Each Sunday of the program, students register from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. in the lower level of the main lodge. Bring a school ID or current report card.

Those who attend seven of the eight Sundays can receive a discount on a season pass. For details, visit anthonylakes.com and go to the “Winter” tab.

Throwback Thursday

Looking ahead, Anthony Lakes will have “Throwback Thursday” on Thursday, Jan. 12, to commemorate the opening of Anthony Lakes on Jan. 12, 1963. For this day, lift tickets will be $2, or $1 for 11 and under.

Here’s a look at the live music coming to Anthony Lakes in 2023. Each performance is 3-6 p.m. For updates, visit anthonylakes.com.
