Murder Mystery

LA GRANDE — Here’s the scenario: you’re fresh off the slopes and looking forward to dinner and drinks in the lodge.

But suddenly the evening turns deadly and you’re smack in the middle of a murder investigation.

This is the plot for the murder mystery dinner event planned for New Year’s Eve, Dec. 31, at the Grande Lumiere Event Center, 1101 Washington Ave. It starts at 7:30 p.m.

The evening’s official event name is “Dead of Winter: Murder in the Blue Mountains at Grande Lodge.” It is sponsored by Le Bebe Cakes Bakery.

Tickets are limited and cost $49 per person. This event is for adults, and includes a no-host bar and dinner. A reservation is required by calling 541-963-2253.

A second event with the same theme will happen in January, but as a family-friendly version for youth in grade 5 and older.

Prior to the pandemic, the business organized four to five murder mysteries a year.

“It was popular and well attended,” said Spring Roberts, owner of Le Bebe Cakes.

Their first mystery after the break was for Halloween 2022. Each event, she said, is “highly themed.”

“We’ve always wanted to a dead-of-winter one,” she said.

When participants register, they can choose to be either a suspect or an investigator.

“It’s so much fun — we love doing these,” she said. “The guests, the audience, are the main act.”

The next mystery will be Jan. 21 at 4:30 p.m. and feature a non-alcoholic bar. For details, check the Facebook page for Le Bebe Cakes Bakery.
