Winter Fishtrap

ENTERPRISE — Winter Fishtrap will focus on the theme of “Generations” when it commences in January.

The gathering, which meets Jan. 15 through Jan. 22, will focus on “The Stories We Tell, The Stories We’ve Been Told” and “what are the generational stories we tell and why?”

Winter Fishtrap will include community storytelling events, workshops and conversations. A full schedule of events and the cost will be available Jan. 5 at fishtrap.org.

Most of this year’s event will be held in person. However, programs will also be accessible through Fishtrap’s Facebook page, website and YouTube channel “to fulfill our promise to diversity, equity and inclusion,” said Mike Midlo, program director.

About Winter Fishtrap

Each January, Winter Fishtrap takes on issues that are important to citizens of the West by gathering diverse voices to inspire a greater understanding on a timely theme.

Activities include lectures, panel discussions, break-out workshops and more.

Over the years, Winter Fishtrap has explored such topics as “The New Agrarians,” “Dams,” “Fire,” “Down Wind, Down River,” and “Water” among many others.

Fishtrap is accepting applications for 2023 Summer Fishtrap scholarships Dec. 15 through Jan. 15.

Thanks to the generous support from foundations, individuals and local businesses, Fishtrap is able to offer several scholarship opportunities to help offset some of the costs of attending the annual Summer Fishtrap conference at Wallowa Lake Lodge.

A Fishtrap scholarship covers registration fees for the Summer Fishtrap Gathering of Writers, July 10-16, 2023, which includes a weeklong writing workshop, readings, activities, panel discussions and special events.

Youth scholarship applications open in March 2023.

Summer Fishtrap is $925 for adult workshops, $830 for Fishtrappers and $550 for youth workshops. Learn more at fishtrap.org
