HERMISTON — Hermiston Parks and Recreation invites everyone to head out to the Eastern Oregon Trade & Event Center for the first “Rec It Arena” nights of 2023.

Rec It Arena is a recreation takeover of the main event center at EOTEC, 1705 E. Airport Road. Hermiston Parks and Recreation provides all the equipment for basketball, volleyball, ping pong, gaga ball and pickleball, as well as a number of oversize piece games, video games and bounce houses.

This weekend, Parks and Rec will host three themed Rec It Arena events: family night, teen night and the “traditional” Rec It Arena.

Family Night

Family night is from 4-7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 13, and admission is $5 per person, with one bonus: the family special is one free parent per paid child. Children must be age 10 or older to attend without a parent.

Family night also includes a toddler zone.

“We’d love to see more families coming and taking advantage of it,” said Kasia Robbins, recreation coordinator. “It’s all reasonably priced, and everyone should expect a lot of fun and lots of different things to do.”

Teen Night

As family night ends, teen night begins. From 7:30-10:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 13, the sports and games return, along with music and restricted admission: only those in middle school and high school (grades six to 12). The cost is $5 per person.

All Ages

The all-ages Rec It Arena events happen on Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 14 and 15. It’s open play for all ages from 10 a.m.–9 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $5 per person.

Concessions are available at all Rec It Arena nights.

In addition to offering general admission, Hermiston Parks and Recreation does also offer party room rentals during the Rec It Arena events.
