HERMISTON — The Hermiston Public Library, 235 E. Gladys Ave., is planning some special events this month, in addition to the regular weekly activities.

Weekly

Preschoolers are welcome to story time every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.

On Saturdays, youths from toddlers to fifth grade can explore free crafts from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., while supplies last.

Teen Craft Night

Teenagers are invited to a special craft night on Thursday, Jan. 19, 6-7 p.m. to learn the Japanese art of paper folding.

Chinese New Year

According to the Chinese calendar, the year you were born is represented by an animal, and legend has it that people under that sign have similar traits to the animal. 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit. Stop by the library on Monday, Jan. 23, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. to learn about the Chinese zodiac signs and pick up supplies to make a Chinese lantern.

Bingo for Books

A family Bingo for Books night is planned for Monday, Jan. 30, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Play bingo for the chance to win a book. All ages are welcome — there will be books and prizes for a variety of ages.

Pokémon

A Pokémon game night for adults is planned for Tuesday, Jan. 24, 6-7 p.m. The evening includes snacks and playing Pokémon cards with friends. This event is co-hosted by Tolarian Table Tops.

Monthly

Bookminders, the library’s book club, meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. Check at the library’s front desk for the current book — a limited number of copies are available.
