- Fancy nights await for the daddy-daughter dance and mother-son date night planned in February by John Day Canyon City Parks and Recreation.
JOHN DAY — Two events are coming up in February that provide a night out for parents and their children.
One is for moms and sons; the other is for daddies and daughters. Both are organized by John Day Canyon City Parks and Recreation.
“It gets families together and the community involved,” said Ana DeVincentis, who is organizing the events.
Registration is requested by Feb. 6 and is available online at jdccparksandrec.org.
That deadline will help the caterer plan enough meals. However, people can sign up after Feb. 6, and even pay at the door.
Both events are held at the Grant County Fairgrounds pavilion, 411 SW Bridge St.
Dads and Daughters
Fathers and daughters are invited to a tropical paradise-themed evening on Friday, Feb. 10, 5-9 p.m. This is for children from kindergarten to sixth grade.
The night features dinner (burgers and fries), dancing, activities, prizes and professional photographs by Tanni Wenger Photography to capture the moment.
The cost is $50 per couple, plus $5 for each additional daughter.
Mothers and Sons
The mother and son date night is set for Saturday, Feb. 11, 5-9 p.m. This evening, which will have a space theme, is for youth from kindergarten to sixth grade.
Dinner includes pizza and refreshments, followed by dancing, laser tag and games with the chance to win prizes. Professional photos by Tanni Wenger Photography begin at 6 p.m., and are included in the price of a ticket.
Cost is $50 per couple, plus $5 per additional son.
