Super Bowl kicks off throughout region

The Rivers Event Center at Wildhorse Resort & Casino is hosting its annual Red Zone Party on Sunday, Feb. 12, 3 p.m. In addition to watching Super Bowl LVII, people can enjoy light refreshments and participate in raffle drawings.

After 32 National Football League teams began huddling up in early September, the field has been whittled down to two. The Philadelphia Eagles will take on the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday, Feb. 12, 3:30 p.m. to battle it out for the Vince Lombardi Trophy during Super Bowl LVII.

Held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, a single ticket in the nosebleed section can set someone back more than $4,600. However, the FOX broadcast offers football fans a birds-eye view of the game as well as the Music Halftime Show featuring Rihanna.

There are plenty of opportunities to attend Super Bowl watch parties locally, with many featuring food and drink specials, and some even provide a chance to win prizes. Here are some of the events planned in Eastern Oregon:

BAKER CITY — Main Event Sports Bar, 1929 Main St., will have the game on TV and do raffle drawings at half time and the fourth quarter to give away gift certificates.

CONDON — A chili cookoff is planned before kickoff during a Super Bowl Party at the Condon Elks Lodge, 117 S. Main St. The contest runs from noon to 1 p.m.

The cost to taste/judge is $3 per person (free for those who bring chili). Also, cornbread will be provided. For questions, call the lodge at 541-384-3331.

HERMISTON — People are invited to show up early and get primed for the big game. Midway Bar & Grill opens at 9 a.m. at 1750 N. First St. Come game time, the TVs will be tuned to the game and there will be food and drink specials. For questions, call 541-567-5180.
