Snow and tasty treats at Anthony Lakes

NORTH POWDER — The nordic trails at Anthony Lakes Mountain Resort will turn into a culinary experience on Sunday, March 26, for the annual Taste of Nordic event from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This event is family-friendly, although everyone 21 and older must have a wristband.

“This is an awesome event that the entire family will enjoy,” said Chelsea Judy, marketing director at Anthony Lakes.

Participants can cross country ski, snowshoe, or simply walk.

“But we thinking skiing is way more fun,” Judy said.

Trail passes — which are $20 — are required no matter which option you choose. Also, a sno-park permit is required to park at the area — purchase these at Anthony Lakes, or at local vendors (find a list at https://tinyurl.com/2p8pcy83).

Confirmed vendors for Taste of Nordic are Barley Brown’s Brewpub, Blue Mountain Cider, The Cheese Fairy, Copper Belt Winery, Elkhorn Grills, Glacier 45 Distillery, The Liberty Theater Cafe, The Lone Pine Cafe, North 7 Brewing, Prodigal Son Brewing, The Rustic Nail, Side A Brewing, Sweet Wife Baking and Ten Depot Street.

How it works

All vendors will have “tastes” that cost one token. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be offered.

New this year is the option to purchase a commemorative and reusable cup. Here are the levels of pricing:

  • Tokens: $4 each
  • Six tokens: $20
  • Cup Only: $10
  • Nordic Trail Pass: $20
  • The Hot Lap: Cup plus 12 tokens; $45 or $65 with trail pass
  • The Mingler: Cup plus 24 tokens; $80 or $100 with trail pass
  • Ski or snowshoe rental: $25 (rentals are also available at The Mountain Works in La Grande and The Trailhead in Baker City)

Tokens will be available for sale at the main lodge, the Nordic Outpost, and along the trails on the day of the event.
