- Bob Webb and Heidi Muller will join other musicians for a holiday concert on Dec. 17, presented by the Wallowa Valley Music Alliance and Josephy Center for Arts and Culture.
JOSEPH — Heidi Muller and Bob Webb will give a concert of their original songs and traditional tunes on Saturday, April 1, at 7 p.m. at the Hurricane Creek Grange, 82930 Airport Lane.
Admission is $10 at the door.
Muller and Webb’s music blends influences from the Pacific Northwest to the Appalachian Mountains. Their songs, mostly written by Muller, feature her vocals backed by Appalachian dulcimers, guitars, mandolin and electric cello.
They have recorded four albums together in addition to Muller’s five previous solo CDs. Muller’s song “Good Road” was the theme song of the Inland Folk show on Northwest Public Radio for 30 years. Two of her songs were published in “Rise Again,” the sequel to the legendary “Rise Up Singing” songbook. Her tune “Leaving the Methow” was featured on the Masters of the Mountain Dulcimer, Volume Two recording.
Webb is a multi-instrumentalist who has played the cello and guitar since childhood, and mandolin and mountain dulcimer for over 40 years. He performed with the bluegrass group Swamp Grass in the last USO tour of Vietnam in 1972. Webb toured with the band Stark Raven, which was also the house band for National Public Radio’s Mountain Stage show. There he accompanied artists such as Odetta, Tom Paxton, Shawn Colvin, Bill Staines, Peggy Seeger and Arlo Guthrie.
The duo moved to Wallowa County from West Virginia in 2012, but prior to that visited Northeastern Oregon to give concerts since 2003.
They teach music to children and adults, have a recording studio offering audio and video services, and do stringed instrument repair. They host the annual adult music camp, Dulcimer Week in the Wallowas, that is going into its 11th year this July.
