A worldwide music event

Community members gathered in the park every Sunday afternoon for a concert sponsored by the Powder River Music Revue. The first concert of the 2024 season is June 23.

BAKER CITY — Powder River Music Revue will celebrate Play Music on the Porch Day, and everyone is welcome to join.

The day’s slogan is: “What if for one day everything stopped? And we all just listened to the music.”

On Saturday, Aug. 26, Powder River Music Revue will have a jam session at the Powder River Pavilion in Geiser-Pollman Park.

“This is an extension of our Wednesday acoustic jam sessions we’ve been holding since March, just on a bit larger scale,” said Rory Noble, PRMR president.

Like the Wednesday jam sessions, musicians are asked to bring music for everyone involved to play along with. Unlike the Wednesday jam sessions, the event will take place outside with plenty of room for anyone who would like to attend.

“John and Twila at The Ison House Bed & Brew have been wonderful allowing us space to play on Wednesday evenings,” Noble said. “Although the space is great to play in, we’d like to have more of the community hear some of the awesome musical talent we have here in Baker City.”

Musicians and vocalists of all ages and skill levels are invited to attend — as are those who would rather just listen. The first session will kick off at 2 p.m. and run for approximately 45 minutes. Each session will begin at the top of the hour. Sessions are limited to eight musicians.
