BAKER CITY — Since he played here in February, Matt Andersen released a new album and has been on the road.
He recently returned from a three-week tour in Europe, and now he’s setting out on a fall tour with Adam Baldwin that takes the musicians along the East Coast, then along the West Coast.
“We had a good time last time and we’re rolling back through,” Andersen said of his return visit to Baker City.
The show is Saturday, Nov. 4, at Churchill School, 3451 Broadway St. (enter through the 16th Street parking lot). Tickets are $15 in advance at churchillbaker.com or $20 at the door.
Andersen lives in Nova Scotia, and he’s played professionally since 2001. He grew up on classical rock, folk and country, and describes his own sound as “roots and soul.”
He released a new album in the spring of 2023 titled “The Big Bottle of Joy.” It is his 10th studio album, and follows the 2022 release of “House to House.”
He’s on the road for long stretches throughout the year. Although he adds new venues to his route, he enjoys playing in familiar places, too.
“It’s nice to work with the same people sometimes,” he said.
And although he’s toured in Canada, the United States and across Europe, he can’t really name a favorite place.
“Every place has its own charms,” he said.
Baldwin has played the guitar for 25 years and started playing professionally about 15 years ago.
“I really love to perform,” he said.
He lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and said he’s “crisscrossed the country” to perform his Americana music that he describes as “Tom Petty-ish.”
“He’s fantastic,” Andersen said of Baldwin. “People who dig my stuff will like his, too.”
