- The 31st annual Holiday Music Festival is Dec. 2 and 3 at Eastern Oregon University.
LA GRANDE — The Observer’s 31st annual Holiday Music Festival at Eastern Oregon University, sponsored by Koza Family Dental Care, will enchant audiences on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 3 at 3 p.m. at McKenzie Theatre, located in Loso Hall on the EOU campus.
Both concerts have the same program to offer a performance of seasonal songs, featuring a blend of community members and EOU student performers.
The festival will include the Grande Ronde Symphony Orchestra, the EOU Chamber Choir, EOU’s 45th Parallel Ensemble, the EOU African Drumming Group, EOU Fiddle Ensemble, and the Grande Ronde Music Association Community Band and Choir.
“We really integrate our community musical ensembles,” said Peter Wordelman, professor of music at EOU.
Music selections will include traditional songs from around the world, and he describes it as a “gala-type performance” with each group taking the stage for about 10-minute sets.
The performance ends with a singalong of “Let It Snow.”
Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets can be purchased at Red Cross Drug and the EOU Bookstore, or online ($12 only) at eou.edu/music.
Advance ticket purchases are encouraged.
“We sell out every year,” Wordelman said. “Make sure you get your tickets.”
Proceeds from the event will benefit the music funds held by the EOU Foundation.
