BAKER CITY — The literary gang is back in “An Enchanted Bookshop Christmas” and you’re sure to find Dr. Dolittle speaking to animals, and Tom Sawyer yielding his slingshot.
All, of course, out of the watchful eye of Margie, the owner of this special bookshop where the characters step from their pages to interact with each other — and meddle in the life of their bookstore owner.
This show is a production of Eastern Oregon Regional Theater. Performances are set for 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1, and 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3. (Note that there is no Saturday show due to Baker City’s holiday celebration that day.)
The second weekend of shows is Dec. 8-10, with performances at 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets are $12 adults, $10 EORT members and $5 students. The opening night special, Nov. 30, is $10 tickets.

A Christmas version
EORT presented “The Enchanted Bookshop” in 2022 featuring the book characters, Margie and two bumbling thieves who were thwarted by the literary folks.
This play follows the plight of Ellen, the sister of the store owner, who moves in with her two girls while she looks for a job.
The characters know just what to do, and start scheming a plan to help Ellen land her dream job — with a few mishaps along the way, mostly instigated by Ebenezer Scrooge (played by Kate Norton).
The cast of 30 required a bit of creativity, said Director Cindy Ratterman. For instance, she added some comic relief between scenes with some elves and reindeer.
Ratterman is assisted by Emese Marvin and Marquesa Peterson.
