What We’re Into

It may seem odd that a person my age (62) would be writing about my enthusiasm for the latest console game offering from Bethesda Game Studios, “Starfield,” but here goes.

Everyone might as well know that I have enjoyed video games since purchasing my first Tandy computer in the 1990s, playing games like “Police Quest,” “Doom” and “Wolfenstein.” After purchasing my first Xbox in 2004, I was really off and running, playing mostly first-person shooters like “Medal of Honor,” “Call of Duty” and “Rainbow Six” or role-playing games, such as “Elder Scrolls” and “Fallout.”

Throughout the years I have continually been amazed by the steady improvement of video games producing more amazing sound, visual graphics and general playability. These factors lead me back to the topic of my discussion, “Starfield.”

This game is a new space-themed RPG that encompasses all the aspects of gaming I’m looking for, a kind of whole package deal. This highly detailed game is set in a galaxy that contains multiple planets and worlds, which the player can move about freely at any time while working through many quests or just exploring beautifully rendered environments. Even my wife enjoys watching the gameplay scenery and hearing the background music.

Although the latest games may initially be a little spendy, they can be replayed many times with different outcomes by changing details for a new play-through. So try out “Starfield” if you haven’t and keep on gaming everyone.
