PENDLETON — Fathers and daughters can again celebrate an elegant evening of dancing during the 19th annual Daddy Daughter Dance on Feb. 10 at the Pendleton Convention Center.
The event is organized by Pendleton Parks and Recreation. Recreation Supervisor Jonathan Bullard said the event will feature favorite activities and a couple of notable changes this year.
“We’re excited,” Bullard said. “Everything people love will be back again, including the chocolate fountain, but we’re also going to have 700 tickets, instead of 675.”
The expanded ticket count follows two consecutive years of sold-out events at 675 participants. The only year of the past 10 years the event has not sold out is 2021, the first year back after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“People love it,” Bullard said. “It’s one of the craziest events I’ve been a part of.”
The Daddy Daughter Dance is a formal event, and families are encouraged to dress up for the occasion. Many families also choose dresses that match the color theme for each year of the Daddy Daughter Dance, although that is not required. The theme for this year’s dance is “black and gold.”
As in past years, the event will feature decorations at the Pendleton Convention Center, dance music provided by a DJ, hors d’oeuvres and other refreshments, including the famous chocolate fountain, always a favorite feature. In addition to the “dance” elements of the event, tickets include a posed photo, gifts at the door and a ticket for a chance at multiple prize drawings throughout the evening.
Tickets for the Daddy Daughter Dance are $25 per person, and each father and daughter will require separate tickets to participate. Tickets went on sale Jan. 3 both online and at the Pendleton Recreation Center Office, 510 SW Dorion Ave.
In the past, in-person tickets have been available at the main Parks and Recreation office on Tutuilla Road, but with the Recreation office moving to the Rec Center earlier this year, both in-person sales and physical ticket pick-up will be at the Recreation Center instead.
The Daddy Daughter Dance is designed for daughters in kindergarten through eighth grade, but older daughters are allowed to join in for a special night with their fathers if they would like. Children younger than age 5 will not be permitted.
