NORTH POWDER — The first annual tea and hot cocoa party for children and their parents will be held Saturday, Feb. 10 at the Happy Campers Mini Mart, 190 E St., Suite 16.

Reservations are suggested and can be made through the Happy Campers Mini Mart Facebook page or Instagram. Seats are limited so early reservations are suggested.

“Come enjoy our first reserved, festive and exclusive tea and hot cocoa bar experience,” owner Lindsey Thompson said. “We’ve been wanting to do something more family-oriented and more fun for the kiddos.”

The cost is $15 per pair with unlimited drink refills and $3 for each additional child. The party is ideal for children ages 1 to 7.

“The party includes a tea party goodie box loaded with treats, pastries and stickers that would be intriguing for the little kids,” Thompson said.

The Mini Mart will be reserved for the party date. There are two parties, one in the morning (8 a.m. to noon) and another in the afternoon (1-4 p.m.). Parents can choose between the two, whichever is more convenient for their child’s schedule.

Thompson said she produced this idea from suggestions made by her vendors, especially one from Unity.

“I’ve had been in touch with this vendor over the holidays, and she had some fun ideas like cookie decorating parties and other things we could host,” she said. “We wanted to go ahead and incorporate some sweets with our tea and hot cocoa party. Everyone can sit down, enjoy, and have a mix-as-you-please tea and hot cocoa party.”

Those who attend will be served their choice of specialty teas such as North Powder Fog, which is a classic London Fog but prepared as an iced version with vanilla and lavender or Zentopia tea.

Thompson said kids and their parents can choose to add their own syrups and whipped cream to their teas and make them more fun and tastier. The party is all about creating fun drinks, making new friends, and enjoying the surprises in your goodie boxes.

“I look forward to seeing parents and their kids stop in for either of the two parties to do something a little different and have some family fun,” Thompson said.
