BAKER CITY — Shannon Curtis and Jamie Hill will bring their “Good to Me” tour to Baker City on Saturday, April 6.

With more than 600 concerts in small venues — backyards and living rooms, for example — the pair are now embarking on a new adventure that still carries the essence of those small shows.

“Even though it was a small event, it still had flair, a vibe and visual appeal,” Shannon said. “I was interested in new ways to bring people into a new experience.”

The April 6 show will be at Churchill School, 3451 Broadway St. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $18 in advance at eventbrite.com or $25 at the door.

For the last decade, she has released albums with themes that tell a narrative through the tracks.

“It’s a narrative from song one to song 10,” she said.

The show is 90 minutes long, with an hour of music and 30 minutes of scripted storytelling.

“The songs and storytelling all work together,” said Jamie, who works with her on the show.

He describes it as “a narrative journey of reconnecting with one’s peace and power in the midst of stressful times.”

And moving from a backyard setting to a stage provides more options for the performances, which are a mixture of music and theater.

The idea for this new format came during a time of forced reflection when shows stopped due to the pandemic.

“That’s where this theater idea came from,” Shannon said. “The pandemic gave me the opportunity to try new things.”

They did a 50-show Zoom tour with Jamie as the sound engineer.

Their first live show was 2023 in Sacramento, California.

“It went great and was so fun,” Shannon said. “That show, and every theater show since then, has been so fun, so joyful.”

Jamie said the show has been described as “one part TED talk, one part visual art installation, and one part synthpop concert.”

“I indulged this synthpop dream I’ve harbored in my heart,” Shannon said.

They started booking more shows in established markets, where she’d performed backyard shows, as well as new venues.

This is their first time performing at Churchill School, which they discovered in the fall of 2023.
