ENTERPRISE — The Wallowa Valley Music Alliance has announced a new project — a mini-series of classical music concerts to be held at the historic Enterprise Odd Fellows Hall, 105 NE First St.
Thanks to funding from the Wallowa County Cultural Trust Coalition and the Oregon Community Foundation the WVMA is happy to bring classical music back to its program roster.
Project organizer Lisa Robertson was a founding board member of the music alliance, and has a long list of accomplishments in the classical music world, and currently serves as concertmaster of the Oregon East Symphony.
“I’m excited about the music alliance’s expansion in support of classical music,” Robertson said. “It’s also a great chance to take advantage of all the acoustical improvements and addition of a nice piano in the Odd Fellows Hall.”
Three concerts of classical music, performed by small groups of players, are planned for April 7, May 5 and June 22.
The first concert, on April 7 at 2 p.m., will feature local classical musicians, including Liz Powers, Emily Knudsen, Lana Rose, Robyn Burns, Malakai Powers, Michaila Caine and Lauren Nebel.
The second program, on May 5 at 2 p.m., will feature music for violin and piano and “four-hands” compositions for piano. Performers on that program will be Boise pianists James Cook and Ruth Cook and violinist Lisa Robertson of Enterprise.
The final concert on June 22 at 7 p.m. will feature Portland musicians Brian Quincy, violist in the Oregon Symphony, and Denise Fujikawa, harpist in the Portland Opera Orchestra.
All concerts will be free of charge, with donations gratefully accepted to help cover expenses.
