What We’re Into

I remember the first story I ever wrote for fun, and you are completely free to judge the title: “Loltah.” It was about a creature combining a lion, leopard and a cheetah. I cannot remember the plot but I still have that handwritten five-page story.

I wrote it when I was in elementary school and it was the key to unlocking a new passion that has become a huge part of my life.

Writing has been my favorite subject, hobby and joy.

I have delved into worlds on the brink of destruction, fantasy realms ruled by dragons, and horrific forests filled with nightmares.

I have painted forests with words, written love confessions, both sincere and hilarious, and explored vast lands kissed with magic.

Writing kept me sane during middle school and high school. I would lock myself away in my room and visit worlds yet to be discovered from somewhere in my mind.

I honestly cannot tell you where half the places I have created come from. I do draw inspiration from my favorite books and movies of all genres but these worlds feel personal to me.

The best part of writing, to me at least, is creating characters. I have entire notebooks, documents and a Pinterest board filled with names and their meanings. I will base a character off a name I adore or find the right name that has a meaning relating to my characters.

Many say writing is carving a piece of your soul out of you and putting it on paper. I agree with them and many of my characters have come to life on pages, almost like my own children.

I have always dreamed of writing my own books and I am on my way.

The only problem is my brain doesn’t know how to stop pushing the “new idea” button. A problem many writers have, apparently.
