LA GRANDE — Art Center East, 1006 Penn Ave., opened two art shows on April 5, and the exhibits are on display through April 27.

“Adventures in Fluid Art” by artist Theresa Henderson of La Grande is on display in ACE’s Orlaske Gallery. Henderson is a self-taught acrylic pour artist. For the past 15 years, she has been refining her techniques, but she acknowledges that “her paintings reflect freedom of experimentation and a release of expectations.” She is currently exploring painted abstract work.

“Theresa is a passionate and longtime supporter of the arts and of ACE. She’s requested that proceeds from the sale of her artwork in this exhibit benefit ACE’s Youth Arts Learning Fund. We’re humbled by her ongoing generosity,” said Jennifer Durr, ACE gallery director.

Raffle tickets for an original fluid art piece by Henderson are available for purchase in person at ACE and online at artcentereast.org. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5 and may be purchased throughout the exhibit and all proceeds benefit the ACE Gallery Program. The raffle winner will be announced after April 27.

ACE also opened “overtime,” an art exhibition featuring Eastern Oregon University’s Junior Theory and Practice class. This year’s featured artists are Losii Daniel, Nayeli Flores, Erin Glenn, Hailey Hochhalter, Av Hughes, Claudia Juarez, Kay Kellogg, Hadley Marshall, Aiden Patterson and Alyson Yates.

“This exhibition would not be possible without the EOU’s ongoing partnership and collaboration with Art Center East, which continues to support artists at every stage of development and enrich our diverse arts community,” Durr said.

Art Center East is open Wednesday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Exhibits can also be viewed online at artcentereast.org.
