PENDLETON — The Betty Feves Memorial Gallery at Blue Mountain Community College opens “Local Color,” a group exhibition showcasing the diverse talent of the area, on Friday, April 19.
The artist reception is 4-6 p.m., followed by Jon Deshler’s Tune Tours jazz group in the theater at 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided at the gallery reception.
“Local Color” will be on display from April 19 to June 13.
The exhibit highlights 13 area artists: Judith Baumann, Shari Dallas, Jason Hogge, Stephanie Huffman, James Lavadour, Joey Lavadour, Roberta Lavadour, Maggie Middleton, Marie Pratuch, Brian Purnell, Ellen Taylor, Heidi Veldhuis and Sandra Westford.
“In the spirit of Betty Feves, I want to share some of the wonderful artistry right in our own backyard with this show,” said Nika Blasser, Feves Gallery director. “We have artists here making incredible work — they inspire others, teach, work at non-profits, and foster a unique sense of place.”
The Feves Gallery serves as a platform for local artists to share their work while welcoming new people to campus.
“This show is an absolute celebration of color, character, and creative community,” Blasser said. “The opening is the perfect chance to welcome folks to campus for a fun double event with something for everyone.”
The music performance is sponsored by the Arts and Culture Series at BMCC.
