BAKER CITY — Goodbye Viking is wrapping up a short tour in Baker City with a show on Friday, April 26, at Churchill School.
They played that stage for the first time in September 2022.
“It was super fun,” said band leader Tyler Colton. “We just had a really good time in Baker City last time. We tell everyone who’ll listen how cool it is. We’re really excited to come back.”
Doors open at 6 p.m. at Churchill, 3451 Broadway St. Tickets are $10 in advance at eventbrite.com or $15 at the door. Admission is free for ages 15 and younger who attend with a paid adult. Food and beverages will be available to purchase.
Goodbye Viking is based in Seattle. Colton, who started playing guitar as a child, started writing songs for a new project in 2017, and the band began performing in 2019.
Even though the pandemic stalled shows, Colton said he’s reconnected with many of the venues the band played before 2020.
Although they do some shows far from home, including Florida, Goodbye Viking mostly plays in the Seattle and Tacoma area.
All of the band members balance jobs with their band commitments.
“We take it seriously and spend a lot of time on it,” Colton said. “Luckily, we enjoy it. We enjoy each other’s company and making music together.”
Their show in Baker City will feature Colton on guitar and vocals, Aimee Guerin on keytar and vocals, Joe Hughes on drums and extra percussion and TJ Rocket on bass.
The band released their first full-length album in 2023. Find their music on Bandcamp, or follow the band on Facebook.
He describes their sound as pop-punk.
“I think we’re a lot of fun,” he said. “And we can be very, very loud.”
As for the band name? Colton only offers a hint.
“It’s from an episode of ‘Adventures of Pete and Pete.’ I’ll leave it at that,” he said.
“I think we’re a lot of fun. And we can be very, very loud.”
