What We’re Into

I might, maybe, have a bit of a crush.

I think it’s the piercing blue eyes.

Or maybe the superhero-like chases — both on foot or in fancy cars.

Surely I’m not the first to be a bit enamored with 007.

And Daniel Craig, in particular.

The James Bond franchise dates to 1953 with author Ian Fleming who, like Bond, is British.

The movies started in 1962. James Bond has been played by Sean Connery, David Niven, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and, finally, Daniel Craig.

We own the Daniel Craig collection that includes “Casino Royale,” “Quantum of Solace,” “Skyfall” and “Spectre.”

My son, who is 13, is now quite into these action movies, and the other day we watched “No Time to Die,” which is the most recent — and last — Bond film featuring Daniel Craig.

Then he pulled out the collection and we watched “Casino Royale.” I’m sure the rest will follow soon to complete my Bond education.

Fortunately, he’s quite patient with my questions — “Is that guy good or bad? Who’s the woman? Does she die in this one?”

The torture scenes make me cringe, but the chase scenes are endlessly entertaining.

And I just have to laugh at the rotating cast of “Bond girls.”

Such is the life of a secret agent, I suppose.

At least in books and films.
