BAKER CITY — Experience how emigrants lived life on the Oregon Trail this weekend with Oregon Trail Days June 7 and June 8 at Geiser-Pollman Park and several other locations.
Activities begin at 10 a.m. both days and continue until 5 p.m.
Friday starts with a special storytime by Karen Haas at 10 a.m. at the Baker County Library, located just across the bridge from the park.
Haas will also present “Songs of the Trail” at 2 p.m. Friday at the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, which reopened in May after an extended closure.
Back at the park, Carter Junction plays from 5-6 p.m.
Saturday’s activities will all be in Geiser-Pollman Park. Carter Junction will play from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., followed by the Small Town Girls from 3-5 p.m. Free carriage rides will be available from Eastern Oregon Carriage Services from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The musical performances are sponsored by the Powder River Music Revue.
On Saturday, the park will also feature a wagon encampment, pioneer-style activities and games, 1840-1880s dress up and food vendors.
Crossroads Carnegie Art Center will have a station for rock painting, and kids will be encouraged to hide the creations around town with the hashtag #BakerRocks.
Crossroads will also have yard games and craft projects.

Want to learn more about the Oregon Trail? The Interpretive Center is now open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is located five miles east of Baker City along Highway 86.
In addition to the exhibits, ranger programs will be offered at 1 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.
Summer admission is $8 for ages 16 and older or $6 for seniors. This entry is good for two days with a receipt.
