BAKER CITY — The town’s extended summer festival is here with three days of vendors in Geiser-Pollman Park, a parade, live music and rodeo-style events.
Miners Jubilee is July 19-21 in Baker City.
Vendors will be open in the park Friday through Sunday.
“There are so many new vendors this year, and the most food vendors we’ve had in five years,” said Christopher Hobson, executive director of the Baker County Chamber, which puts on the event.
This year also features expanded music in the park.
Breakfast and a fun run
Saturday and Sunday both dawn early when the Baker City Lions Club starts cooking breakfast in the park. From 7-11 a.m., the service club will be serving up a hot meal — both days feature pancakes, eggs, coffee and juice. Saturday adds sausage, and Sunday’s meat is ham. The cost is $10 adults or $8 for ages 3-10, and proceeds support the club’s community projects.
Also, the Miners Jubilee fun run/walk returns Saturday at 8 a.m. Register between 6:45-7:45 a.m. in front of Kicks Sportswear on Main Street — $25 adults or $10 for ages 5-10. Proceeds support the Baker High School track and cross-country teams.
Music and a parade
Powder River Music Revue is coordinating two days of music in Geiser-Pollman Park. Friday features:
- 1 p.m.: John Bear
- 2:30 p.m.: Sturtz
- 4 p.m.: Sequoia Rose
Saturday brings:
- Noon: Camille Hearne
- 1 p.m.: Elwood
- 3 p.m.: Bag of Hammers
The Miners Jubilee parade starts at 11 a.m. Saturday from the staging area at Baker Middle School and heads toward downtown. This year’s theme is (20)24 Karat Golden Moments.
Entries can still sign up to join the parade — find the form at minersjubilee.com.
Broncs & Bulls
The Baker City Broncs and Bulls, an event by the Challenge of Champions Tour, is July 19 and 20 at the Baker County Fairgrounds rodeo arena on Grove Street. The show starts at 7 p.m. Friday for the broncs, and 6 p.m. Saturday for the bulls.
Tickets are $18 adults or $12 for youth for both events. Purchase tickets in advance at cctbullriding.com.
A related event happens on Saturday at Glacier 45, 1901 Main St., where bronc and bull riders will be signing copies of this year’s event poster that features original art by Ken Helgerson. Court Street will be closed between Main and First streets for this gathering from 9-11 a.m.
