The Wasteland Kings will play for the Base of the Blues Bash on Oct. 19 in Milton-Freewater.

JOHN DAY — Grub & Grog, last held in 2017, is making a comeback this year.

John Day-Canyon City Parks and Recreation District is organizing the outdoor gathering with music, food, drinks and games on Friday, July 19, from 2:30-8:30 p.m. at Belshaw Field, behind the parks and rec office on Northeast Seventh Avenue.

Tickets are $10 for adults, and free for age 12 and younger. Although advance tickets are encouraged, attendees can pay at the event.

“Getting tickets ahead of time would be fantastic,” said Ana DeVincentis, the Parks and Rec office manager.

Tickets can be purchased at jdccparksandrec.org, the Grant County Chamber of Commerce, the parks and rec office, Ace Hardware, 1188 and at the event.

She said Grub & Grog adds to the district’s calendar of events.

“I’ve been trying to add more things so we have stuff all year,” she said.

The evening’s live music starts with The Wasteland Kings, followed by headliner Olivia Harms.

Drink options will be sold by 1188 Brewing, and food carts include The Taco Co., Mountain View Mini-Mart and the Lemon Drop. Additional vendors will also be onsite.

Other activities include cornhole for the adults and various kids games. Free child care will be available at Families First, 401 S. Canyon Blvd., from 5-9 p.m.

Proceeds benefit the John Day-Canyon City Parks and Recreation District, which also runs the summer lunch program, sports seasons, concerts in the park, movie nights, holiday movies, the Daddy/Daughter Dance and Family Fun Night.
