MILTON-FREEWATER — The biggest weekend Milton-Freewater has to offer is happening Aug. 2-4.
The annual Weekend @ The Blues rodeo and music festival is always the first weekend in August and promoted as “Where the Wild West meets the Bands.”
The days feature live bands, the Ranch & Home Rodeo, the famous Ambassadors Breakfast, Elks parade, a variety of food and merchandise vendors, games, Walchli Farms Watermelon Eating Contest, Pocket iNet Pretty Baby Contest, Kiwanis Beer & Wine Garden, Guns & Hoses Fun Run, citywide yard sales, Dancing, Rodeo After Party, Kelley’s Calf Panty Pull, Fireman’s Water Fight, and more.
“Come join the fun,” said organizers Kim Munk and Sharee LaRue.
LaRue said that the Broncs, Barrels, and Bulls with PBR bulls and broncs from a qualified NFR Stock Contractor on Saturday, Aug. 3, will sell out so get tickets early at weekendattheblues.com/rodeo.

Other events include the Pretty Baby Contest for ages 6-24 months, and the weekend features city-wide yard sales.

8 a.m.: Guns & Hoses Fun Run
8-10 a.m.: Ambassador’s Breakfast and Music
9 a.m.: Elks Parade starts at North Main/NE Eighth and ends at Yantis Park
9 a.m.-dusk: Vendors open
10 a.m.: Pocket iNet Pretty Baby Contest
1 p.m.: Fireman’s Water Fight
2 p.m.:Folklorico De Mexico Dance Club
3 p.m.: Kiwanis Beer & Wine Garden opens
4 p.m.: Walchli Farm watermelon chow down
5 p.m.: Music by Early Morning Traffic
7:30 p.m.: Music by Fastlane
Rodeo
Head to the Pioneer Posse Grounds, 84581 Highway 11, for rodeo action. Barrel racing slack begins at noon and is free to the public.
The rodeo gets underway at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3. Tickets are $20 for ages 15 and older, $10 military/veterans, $15 first responders and $15 for ages 6-14.
The after-party at Kelly’s Bar has free admission.
Sunday, Aug. 4
Citywide yard sales continue on Sunday, and from 3-7 p.m. the Integrity Rebekah Lodge #175, 209 N. Main St., will have a barbecue fundraiser.
Enjoy some down-home country cooking — barbecued chicken with sides of chips, baked beans, fresh fruit, potato salad and dessert. Additional baked goods will be available for purchase.
