- Rock band Twen tours into Baker City Aug. 21, 2024.
BAKER CITY — Musicians dealt with the pandemic in different ways, and Twen founders Ian Jones and Jane Fitzsimmons focused on their living situation.
They converted a van.
“Jane and I live in the van full time. Best decision we ever made,” Jones said. “We tour all the time, make our own records, write our own songs.”
They founded Twen in Boston in 2017, and lived in Nashville for a few years before hitting the road.
This year they have 83 shows booked from July through December, including a tour in Europe.
“This is our busiest year yet,” Jones said.
And now they’re coming to Baker City — their first time playing a concert in Eastern Oregon.
Jones said he got a call from Brian Vegter, who owns Churchill School — a location between their shows in Salt Lake City and Seattle.
“He said, ‘Hey, we’re right in the middle — come play,’” Jones said.
Their concert is Wednesday, Aug. 21 at Churchill, 3451 Broadway St. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance at churchillbaker.com or $20 at the door. Enumclaw, a band from Tacoma, Washington, will open the show.
“We like small towns,” Jones said. “We meet good people.”
About the band
Twen is a five-piece rock band. Jones and Fitzsimmons are the original members, and they are joined by Asher Horton, Camden Pink and Forrest Raup.
Jones and Fitzsimmons were both playing in their own bands when the two met in college.
“Both of our respective bands broke up,” Jones said.
They decided to form their own.
“We tried that. Here we are, eight years later,” he said.
Twen has released two full studio albums, a couple live EPs and singles. Jones said they have about 30 original songs.
“And a lot more in the pipeline,” he said.
Their next album will be released in early 2025 — he said a few of the songs have been released as singles.
“And the rest will come out on the record,” he said.
In the meantime, he and Fitzsimmons will keep driving, and meet their other band members at the venues.
This month, including the Baker City show, they will log 10,000 miles in 30 days.
“Just come — you will not regret it,” he said.
