LA GRANDE — From what started out as a fun idea for a birthday celebration, the Eastern Oregon Country Music Festival has become a highly anticipated event on the calendar for music-loving folks throughout the region.

It all began when Amanda Hampton wanted to celebrate her boyfriend’s 50th birthday in a memorable way. In 2021, she reached out to Randy Woody, one of her music management clients, and a plan was cobbled together to bring Woody out to Union County. A fundraiser was set up to pay the airfare for Woody and his band, and much more money was raised than needed.

Hampton wanted to do something more with this money and the Eastern Oregon Country Music Festival was born.

The festival returns to the Union County Fairgrounds, 3604 N. Second St., Aug. 23-24. The music starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 11:30 p.m. both days.

Tickets for the festival are available for purchase online at eocountrymusicfest.com. Prices are $43.35 for Friday or Saturday, or $80.11 for a weekend pass. Admission is free for children ages 12 and younger.

Two nights of camping is available for $22.34.

The festival kicks off on Friday with a lineup that is sure to get the crowd on their feet. The evening begins with Eli Howard and the Greater Good, known for their soulful melodies and captivating stage presence. Following them, the dynamic Hannah Dasher will take the stage, bringing her unique blend of country and rock that has earned her a dedicated fan base throughout the country.

On Saturday, the musical journey continues with performances from Tony Buckman and the Miscreants, whose energetic tunes and engaging performances are a festival favorite. The Wade Aylett Band will follow, delivering a mix of classic and contemporary country hits.

As the night progresses, Randy Woody will keep the energy high with his powerful sound. The festival will culminate with a performance by Dillon Carmichael, whose deep, resonant voice and heartfelt lyrics are the perfect way to close out the event.

While the music is undoubtedly the main attraction, the Eastern Oregon Country Music Festival offers much more. Attendees can explore a variety of vendors showcasing local crafts, delicious food and unique merchandise. Among them, local favorites Becky’s Burger Wagon, Tanner Nutrition and Monkeys on the Run will be there offering up specialties.

The Eastern Oregon Country Music Festival is a family-friendly event, with activities and entertainment for all ages, including a designated area for children’s activities.
