EASTERN OREGON — The spooky season is here, and Eastern Oregon abounds with all sorts of holiday fun, from trunk-or-treat events to harvest festivals.
Read on to find out what’s happening near you.
BAKER COUNTY
Baker City
- Get a fright at Churchill Haunted Studios on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 24-26, plus Halloween, from 6:30-8 p.m. at Churchill, 3451 Broadway St. Tickets are $13 in advance or $18 at the door. For details, visit churchillbaker.com.
- Get ready for spooky history with Haunting on the Hill on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center near Baker City. From noon to 4 p.m., visitors can make crafts, join a costume contest and take a spooky tour of the exhibits. Admission is free.
- JQ’s Livestock and Dog 4H Club will have a Pup Parade and Paw-stume Contest at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26 in Geiser-Pollman Park. The group will parade through the park and down Main Street to Court Street. Participants can start checking in at 1 p.m. Entry is $5 and prizes will be awarded to the top three winners in each category: Partners (human and canine); Favorite “Pup” (age 8 and younger); Spookiest; Funniest; Most Creative. - A Harvest Festival is planned at Harvest Church, 3720 Birch St., from 3-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26. The afternoon includes a Dutch oven cook-off, bone fire, laser tag, food, apple cider and more. For information, call 541-523-4233 or bakercityharvest.org.
- For a healthier take on the holiday, check out ”Halloween for the Health of It” trunk-or-treat from 4-6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, at Quail Ridge Golf Course, 2801 Indiana Ave. There will be treats, games, activities and youth bike rodeo.
- The annual Trick-or-Treat on Main Street, organized by the Baker City Kiwanis Club, will be from 4-6 p.m. on Halloween, Oct. 31. Main Street will be closed to traffic from Campbell Street to Auburn Avenue. Businesses and organizations on and off Main Street are welcome to hand out candy. - A Trunk-or-Treat is planned for 4:30-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31 at the Baker City Christian Church, 675 Highway 7. You’ll find games, s’mores, hot dogs, chili and, of course, candy.
Durkee
- The Durkee Community Corp. will have a Halloween Carnival from 6-7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, at the Durkee Grange Hall. Attendees will find games, treats, music, prizes, costume contests and candy.
Halfway
- A New Moon Halloween 2 Star Party is 5-11 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1, at the Pine Valley Fairgrounds in Halfway. Enjoy food, drinks, activities and star gazing. Dress warm, and bring chairs and blankets.
Huntington
- The Huntington Haunted Forest runs two days this year: Oct. 25 and Oct. 26, 6:30-11 p.m. Meet at the Huntington Lions Park and take a shuttle to the family-friendly Halloween walk-through scene. Admission is $10 adults and $5 for ages 15 and younger. Hot chocolate and popcorn will be available by donation, and other concessions can be purchased (cash only).
Richland
- The Eagle Valley Grange’s truck-or-treat is Saturday, Oct. 26, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Eagle Valley Grange community park. Activities include games, contests, candy and a lunch of chili dogs. To donate, or for information, call Brooke, 541-540-3953 or Meghan, 541-893-3287.
Sumpter
- The Sumpter Valley Railroad will offer four short Halloween train runs from the Sumpter Station on Oct. 26 and Oct. 27 at 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Fares are $19 adults, $16 seniors/military, $13 ages 3-17.
- On Saturday, Oct. 26, Sumpter’s main street will fill with decorated vehicles for the annual Trunk-or-Treat from 1-3 p.m.
GRANT COUNTY
Canyon City
- On Halloween, Oct. 31, Humbolt Street in Canyon City will be closed for the crowds of trick-or-treaters who arrive around 5 p.m.
John Day
- 1188 Brewing will have a Halloween-themed trivia night — ”Trick or Trivia” — and a costume contest on Friday, Oct. 25, starting at 5:30 p.m.
- A Halloween party from 8 p.m. to midnight on Friday, Oct. 25 at the Bare Bones Bar with a costume contest and music by Scotty Mac and the Nugs. Cover is $5.
- The John Day Elks Lodge’s annual Kids Carnival and Haunted House is on Halloween from 4-9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 31, at the lodge, 140 NE Dayton St. Attendees will find prizes, candy and hot dogs. Entry is one can of nonperishable food for the local food bank.
- The third annual Bare Bones trunk-or-treat is planned for Thursday, Oct. 31 starting at 4:30 p.m. at 671 W. Main St. in John Day. Cars that want to participate need to sign up ahead of time at Bare Bones Bar.
MORROW COUNTY Boardman
- The Taylor Pumpkin Patch offers a variety of agri-tourism activities, including a corn maze, corn pits, apple slingshots, a pumpkin cannon and a haybale pyramid at 79115 Root Lane. Entry is $5 per person; children under 3 are free. Hours are Wednesday and Thursday, 3:30 p.m. to dusk; and Friday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. In addition, hay rides are available on the weekends. And get your scare on during the haunted house Oct. 25-26, 6-9 p.m. Admission is $5 per person. Also, Bros, Brats, Brews is Saturday, Oct. 26, 6-9 p.m. Beer and brats cost $5 each. - The Boardman Community Trunk-or-Treat is Thursday, Oct. 31, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the SAGE Center, 101 Olson Road. Don your costumes and collect candy from decorated vehicles in the parking lot. In addition, hot chocolate will be available for $1 from Boardman Jumpstart Java and free tasty snacks from the Tillamook County Creamery Association. Also, you won’t want to miss a chance to see Eastern Oregon’s celebrity pumpkin carver Roger Pope, who appeared on Season 13 of “Halloween Wars.”
Heppner
- Grab your costumes and candy bags to trick-or-treat at Heppner businesses from 2-5 p.m. on Halloween, Oct. 31 on Main Street.
Irrigon
- The Irrigon Halloween Festival and Trunk-or-Treat is Thursday, Oct. 31, 4-6 p.m. at the Irrigon Event Plaza, 420 NE Main Ave. In addition to candy, the event includes hamburgers, hot dogs, and games from 4:30-6 p.m. Also, follow the lighted path to the Irrigon Fire Department for some spooky fun in the Haunted House from 4-8 p.m. (541-626-2045, www.facebook.com/irrigonchamberofcommerce).
Lexington
- Two Wolves Media and the Broken Spoke are teaming up for a Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 26, 8 p.m. at 125 W. Main St. In addition to rocking your best costume for a chance to win a prize, enjoy the music of Ty Lane of the FrogHollow Band.
UMATILLA COUNTY
Echo Corn Maze

- Catch a screening of “Children of the Corn” during movie night on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. Concessions include beer, wine and cider. People are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket.
- The final Field of Screams for the 2024 season is Saturday, Oct. 26, 7-9 p.m. The cost is $12, which includes the regular general admission activities.
- The annual harvest festival — which features face painting, pumpkin carving, a scavenger hunt and a costume contest — is Sunday, Oct. 27, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. A portion of ticket sales will support area foster families through Hands & Feet Inc.
Hermiston
- The Next Chapter Bookstore will have a Halloween Party on Saturday, Oct. 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the shop, 1000 S. Highway 395 Suite C. Attendees are encouraged to wear costumes for this gathering that features treats, crafts and storytime.
- Several area businesses are joining the boo crew at City Auto Sales for Trunk or Treat 2024. The family-friendly event is Wednesday, Oct. 30, 3:30-6:30 p.m. at 80857 N. Highway 395. Activities include a costume contest, raffles, giveaways, goodies and candy.
- Treats on Main & Beyond offers safe trick-or-treating Thursday, Oct. 31, 3-5 p.m. in downtown Hermiston — watch for signs posted in the windows of participating businesses. After hitting the Main Street area, head “beyond” for carnival games, a haunted house, prizes and more fun from 4-6 p.m. at the Hermiston Community Center, 415 S. Highway 395. - Fall Fest 2024 is Thursday, Oct. 31, 5:30-7 p.m. at the Hermiston Nazarene Church, 1520 W. Orchard Ave. It features a trunk-or-treat, a train ride for youngsters, popcorn with various seasonings and a selfie photo booth. Non-candy prizes are available. - Everyone is invited to the annual trick-or-treat and (not so) haunted house on Thursday, Oct. 31, 6-8 p.m. at Guardian Angel Homes, 540 NW 12th St. The event also features an opportunity to make crafts and enjoy refreshments.
Milton-Freewater
- North Main Street will come alive again with the 14th annual Festival of Fun + Fright on Thursday, Oct. 31. From 4-6 p.m., the Milton-Freewater Chamber Downtown Alliance will host the Halloween Safe Trick or Treat, and the zombies will be back this year at 7 p.m. for the Zombie Crawl. Also, A Pumpkin Decorating Contest will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Freewater Square. Mission
- A spook-tacular Halloween party for adults 21 and older is Saturday, Oct. 26, 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Wildhorse Sports Bar, located off Interstate 84 exit 216. Dress in your best gothic-glamour costume (no masks allowed and face paint must not prevent identification) to receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a $500 cash prize. In addition, the crowd favorite will win $500. Also, dance the night away to new and classic hits performed by 24/7.
Pendleton
- The Juniper House trunk-or-treat celebration is Friday, Oct. 25, 5-7 p.m. at 301 SW 28th Drive. People are asked to park on the street and walk to the parking lot.
- Pendleton Christian School’s annual Fall Festival is Saturday, Oct. 26, at 3121 SW Hailey Ave. A fundraiser for the Seventh-day Adventist-affiliated school, a veggie burger dinner with root beer floats will be served at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $7.50 per person or $28 for a family of four or more. Festival games starting at 7 p.m. — log sawing, frog pond, axe-throwing, darts, pillow fighting, fruit ninja, pumpkin toss and more — are 50 cents each. Organizers request no scary or gory costumes. - Trick-or-Treat on Sixth Street is Friday, Oct. 26, 4:30-6:30 p.m. Participating businesses will have signs posted. The first 30 minutes features a “sensory-friendly” atmosphere with no flashing lights or loud sounds. The event also includes a business decorating contest and a pet costume contest.
- A pumpkin carving contest will offer first through third place prizes with gift certificates ranging from $15 to $50. Fewell Farms donated pumpkins for the event — pick one up in advance, while supplies last, at the Umatilla Chamber of Commerce, 100 Cline Ave. Carved pumpkins will be accepted at the chamber office all day on Thursday, Oct. 24, or between 9-11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 25. - Watch the Witch returns to Joseph on Oct. 31 from 4-6 p.m. This is presented by the Joseph Chamber of Commerce.
Lostine
- Head to the Z’s BBQ at the Lostine Tavern for a Halloween party on Thursday, Oct. 31, featuring music by Country Moonshine and costume contests for kids and adults. The music starts at 7 p.m., and children are welcome until 9 p.m. Contest winners are announced at 8:30 p.m.
Wallowa
