BAKER CITY — The weather may be turning colder, but art galleries in Baker City heat up the first of each month for the First Friday art walk.

This month’s event is Friday, Nov. 1. Here’s a look at the featured artists.

Sweet Wife Baking

2028 Main St.

Tera Taylor is the featured artist at Sweet Wife starting on Nov. 1 when the bake shop stays open late for First Friday.

Taylor has dabbled in all types of art over the years, such as quilting, cake decorating and nail art. This exhibit will showcase her abstract art.

“I’ve been doing art of all different kinds for as far back as I can remember,” she said. “This is another step in my artistic journey.”

Crossroads Carnegie Art Center

2020 Auburn Ave.

November ushers in “People and Places” by Bonnie Peacher and “Children of the World” by Gina Cole at Crossroads with an opening reception on Nov. 1 from 5-8 p.m.

Both artists are figurative painters from Boise, and each has their own style of portraying people from around the world. This exhibit is on display until Nov. 30.

Peacher has a BFA from Boise State University with an emphasis on painting and art history. Her award-winning work has appeared in more than 200+ exhibitions and collections, including The College of Idaho’s permanent “Idaho Women’s Collection.” She is also active in the local art advocacy and education community.

Cole, originally from Thailand, is based in Boise and works predominately in oils. She attended Boise State University and received a degree in radiologic science. But after working full-time as a radiologist, Gina said art became her therapy and painting gave her purpose. She launched a second career and “is interested in portraying the human condition, capturing the emotional side of raw human experience.” Her portraits often present an intensely personal and evocative body of work.

Churchill Hall Pass Gallery

3451 Broadway St.

Starting Nov. 1, Churchill’s art gallery will feature work by Sarah LeCompte. She’ll exhibit paintings, textiles and drawings in the show that opens at 5:30 p.m.

2008 Broadway St.

The Co-op will feature Pam Bingham’s pottery with a special show on First Friday from 4-7 p.m.

Integrative Health and Wellness Center

1928 Court Ave.

The center will have an open house and wellness fair during First Friday, as well as showcase employee artwork, from 5-8 p.m.
