ENTERPRISE — The dark winter evenings will shine a bit brighter in Enterprise when the fifth annual Fair Lights begins Friday, Dec. 20.

The drive-thru display, presented by the Wallowa County Fair, features countless lights and holiday inflatable decor at the Wallowa County Fairgrounds. Cars will enter across the street from Les Schwab Tires on Medical Parkway, and exit by the arena.

“Some people go through in 10 to 15 minutes, depending on if you stop or not,” said Tony Boyd, Wallowa County fair manager.

Fair Lights will be open Dec. 20-29 from 5-8 p.m. each night. Admission is free.

On opening night, the first 100 cars will receive goodie bags. Also, visitors are asked to bring a donation of nonperishable food items for the food bank.

Boyd said displays are created by the fair board, local churches and businesses. A set of volunteers also help get Fair Lights ready for the public.

“We’ll have both sides of the road filled with displays,” he said. “Each year we’re adding to it.”

Visitors can add a festive flair to their tour by tuning into the Fair Lights radio station, 89.9 FM, for holiday music.

There’s no need to leave your car. One area will have snacks, such as popcorn, that will be handed through the car window.

Also, Santa Claus will be onsite the first night.

After opening night, through Dec. 29, gates will open at 5 p.m. and close at 8 p.m. for the self-guided tours.
