JOSEPH — Things will be heating up this January in the classrooms of the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture with a wide variety of creative classes for all ages.
The Josephy Center, a hub of arts and culture for Wallowa County, continues its mission to enrich and elevate the lives of residents, inspire creativity and provide space for emerging and experienced artists to explore the world of art. This January will be no different.
Classes open for registration
- Jan. 4: Vision Board workshop: New year, new possibilities. Taught by Arianna Olsen, this class runs from 2-4 p.m. Cost is $12.
- Jan. 10: An eight-week session of youth ceramics begins and meets Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The instructor is Jennifer Hawkins. Cost is $96.
- Jan. 10: Youth Painting and Drawing, eight-week session, begins and meets Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The instructor is Crystal Newton. Cost is $75.
- Jan. 10: Alison Curry will teach Let’s Crochet for all levels in an eight-week course that meets Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The cost is $100.
- Jan. 10: Cheryl Coughlan will teach hand-building mugs and other simple projects Jan. 10 and Jan. 17, 3-5 p.m. Cost is $50.
- Jan. 11: Cheryl Coughlan will lead a ceramics class in Making Animals from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Jan. 11 and 10 a.m. to noon Jan. 25. Cost is $95.
- Jan. 12: Learn to play the mountain dulcimer with Heidi Muller in a five-week class on Sundays, 2-3:30 p.m., Jan. 12 to Feb. 9. The dulcimer is a three-stringed instrument with roots in the Appalachian Mountains. Beginning and returning students are welcome. Cost is $150. Rental dulcimers are available for $50 — reserve one by emailing heidi.muller.music@gmail.com.
- Jan. 15: Wonderful Wednesdays, an open art studio with Jenny Klimsza, meets 1-3 p.m. for eight weeks. Cost is $50.
- Feb. 5: Wood carving with Steve Arment begins Feb. 5 and meets Wednesdays for four weeks from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Cost is $140.
