LA GRANDE — Art Center East, 1006 Penn Ave., opens the ninth annual Fiber Arts and Jewelry exhibit, and a show by Darcy Dolge, on Friday, Feb. 7, with a reception from 6-8 p.m.

Both shows will be on display through a closing reception on March 28.

Fiber arts

“Folklore in Fiber: Myths, Mysteries, Fairytales and Folk Traditions” features works by Northeast Oregon fiber and jewelry artists.

This year’s exhibit celebrates the artistry of fiber and jewelry-making through the lens of folklore. Artists were encouraged to explore myths, mysteries, fairy tales and folk traditions of their choice as inspiration for creating new jewelry or fiber artworks.

“The arts have always been one way to tell stories or preserve traditions,” said Jennifer Durr, ACE gallery director. “In ‘Folklore in Fiber’ the artists explored how they interpret or celebrate cultural myths and stories by bringing them to life through textiles and jewelry.”

Raffle tickets for an original quilt by La Grande fiber artist Joy Cleaver will be available for purchase in person and online at artcentereast.org, beginning at 6 p.m. Feb. 7.

Proceeds from the raffle support the ACE Gallery Program. The raffle winner will be drawn after March 29.

‘Celestial Resonance’

“Celestial Resonance,” an immersive exhibit by local artist and sound therapist Darcy Dolge, also opens Friday, Feb. 7.

The show combines art, sound and intention to create a multi-sensory experience that invites viewers to explore art as a space for meditation, healing, and connection. Dolge weaves hand-drawn linework, watercolors, digital collages, gilding and beading with specific sound frequencies and crystal elements, creating works that resonate energetically and visually.

Visitors are encouraged to engage with the exhibit by wearing the headphones provided to experience the art through curated sound frequencies. The headphones transform the exhibit into an auditory and visual journey.

Dolge’s exhibit marks her first comprehensive body of work since 2013. The collection reflects her belief in art as a transformational practice and explores themes such as creative courage, self-discovery, and universal connection. Drawing on her background in sound therapy and crystal practice, Dolge incorporates frequencies, cymatics, and celestial elements such as astrological cycles, numerology, and planetary rhythms into her work.

Visitors will also see Dolge’s use of gilded details crafted from gold, silver, and copper leaf — symbols of alchemical transformation — and digital collages infused with mineral-based pigments derived from natural elements like soil and crystals.

A recorded artist talk by Dolge will be available following the opening reception. A weekly sound journey and a virtual tour of “Celestial Resonance” will also be available on ACE’s website for people who can’t visit the exhibit in person.
