A Lakeview mother and her boyfriend are in custody following law enforcement’s discovery of a deceased 17-year-old boy.
Oregon State Police are investigating the teen’s death as a suspected negligent homicide.
Amanda Edwards, 38, and her boyfriend Nathaniel Cullins, 31, were arrested by Oregon State Police on Tuesday.
OSP and Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputies reported arriving at Edwards’ residence on the 300 block of South G Street in Lakeview around 3:44 p.m. to serve a court-ordered protection order for the 17-year-old boy living at the residence.
Law enforcement searched the home and found the juvenile dead. He is suspected to have died on Feb. 1, according to court records.
Both Edwards and Cullins are being held on charges of criminally negligent homicide, first-degree criminal mistreatment, second degree abuse of a corpse and tampering with physical evidence.
Cullins is also charged with unlawful use of a weapon.
Court records say the couple allegedly withheld adequate food, physical care or medical attention from the teenager.
Edwards and Cullins are in custody at Lake County Jail. Edwards’ next hearing will be held Feb. 25.
The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement asks anyone with any additional information to contact OSP Southern Command Center at 541-883-5711.
