Micro Chautauqua supports May music festival

RICHLAND — A Micro Chautauqua is planned Saturday, March 15, as a fundraiser for the Chautauqua Music Festival happening in May.

The fundraiser, held at the Eagle Valley Grange in Richland, includes music by The Locals at 5 p.m. and a live auction at 6 p.m. The raffles and silent auctions end at 6:30 p.m. The evening also features performances by Pine Eagle students.

Dinner and beverages will be available to purchase. Admission is $5 for adults and free for ages 12 and younger.

This year, a percentage of the 2025 music festival will be donated to the Eagle Valley Rural Fire Department. The festival is set for May 16-18 in Richland, and Dave Stamey is the headliner. Tickets are now available at www.chautauquamusicfestival.com and at Sara’s Richland Cafe.

Barn dance set for March 14

BAKER CITY — The Lone Pine Rangers 4-H Club will have a barn dance on Friday, March 14, 6-8 p.m. at the OSU Extension Office in Baker City, 2600 East St.

Admission is $5 per person or $15 per family.

BMCC dance rescheduled to March 7

PENDLETON — The Pendleton Contra Dance Community and BMCC Arts and Culture are excited to invite the public to an evening of music, movement and community at the contra dance on Friday, March 7 at the BMCC Student Union, 2411 NW Carden Ave.

The dance was originally planned for Feb. 14, but was cancelled due to weather.

The evening kicks off with a “Learn to Contra” session from 6:30-7:00 p.m., where newcomers can get comfortable with the steps before the main dance begins at 7 p.m. with music by Spotted Pony. No prior dance experience or partner is required.

Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable shoes with smooth soles. Admission is free for BMCC students, with a suggested $5 donation for community members.

Free Young Eagles Workshop

WALLA WALLA — Walla Walla Wings is hosting a free EAA Chapter 604 Introduction to Ground School Workshop for ages 11 to 17 who are interested in a career in aviation.

The Young Eagles Workshop will be Saturday, March 8, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Bring a snack or lunch for the half hour break.

Founded in 1992, the Young Eagles program is dedicated to giving youth ages 8–17 an opportunity to go flying in a general aviation airplane. These flights are offered free of charge and are made possible through the generosity of EAA member volunteers.

Art center plans spring break camp

BAKER CITY — Crossroads Carnegie Art Center is offering an artistic take on spring break with an art camp for ages 10 and older March 25-27 at the center, 2020 Auburn Ave.

This three-day class is packed with engaging activities that encourage creativity and expression, from painting to mixed media and crafts. Each day features a new activity.

The instructors are Cheri Siebler, Danae Simonski and Tina Ota. Classes are held from 10 a.m. to noon each day.

The cost is $126 for members, or $156 for nonmembers, plus a $5 supply fee. Crossroads also offers a “pay what you can” option — for information and to register, visit crossroads-arts.org or stop by the center.

Middle school hosts carnival fundraiser

BAKER CITY — The Baker Middle School leadership students will host a school carnival on Thursday, March 6, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at BMS, 2320 Washington Ave.

The carnival is the main fundraiser for BMS, and this year the event will raise money for an electronic reader board.

The carnival features games in every classroom for all ages, a raffle, silent auction, face painting and photo booth. Carnival-style food will also be available in the cafeteria.

Game tickets will be $1 each or 20 for $15. Raffle tickets can be purchased from BMS students or at the school’s front office.

Fireworks mark Wildhorse’s 30th anniversary

MISSION — Fireworks light up the night Saturday, March 8, for the 30th anniversary of Wildhorse Resort and Casino.

The sparks fly at 8 p.m., and a bonus is special fireworks music during the show by tuning to 104.1 FM. The show is free, and special effect glasses are available the day of the show at the Wildhorse gift shop, Club Wild, Mission Market and Hamley Western Store.

After the show, those 21 and older can check out a ’90s dance party from 8:30 p.m. to midnight in the Rivers Event Center. Entry is free.

Grande Ronde Music Association presents concert

LA GRANDE — The Grande Ronde Music Association will present “Voices & Vibrations” on Monday, March 10, 7 p.m. at McKenzie Theater on the campus of Eastern Oregon University.

The evening of music features the Community Band, directed by Russ Carpenter, and vocal performances by the Community Choir and the EOU Chamber Choir, directed by Daniel Durrell.

Admission is free, with donations welcomed at the door.

Rebekah Lodge plans dinner fundraiser

MILTON-FREEWATER — Integrity Rebekah Lodge #175 has a chicken and dumplings dinner fundraiser on Friday, March 7, from 3-7 p.m. at the lodge, 209 N. Main St. in Milton-Freewater.

Tickets will be available at the door for $17 per plate.

Baked goods, books and handcrafted items will be available for purchase. The Rebekahs also have a scholarship raffle quilt as a fundraiser for the two McLoughlin High School and Weston-McEwen scholarships they award every year. Tickets for the raffle quilt are $1 each or six tickets for $5.

Proceeds from the dinner will help fund repairs and painting of the exterior of their building.

For over 100 years the local Rebekah Lodge has been serving the community and holding fundraisers to provide annual high school scholarships. The group is also known for the beautiful quilts they create including one they make to raffle each year. They are now adding fundraisers for building improvements.

Fishtrap presents reading of ‘Strange Birds’

ENTERPRISE — Fishtrap will present a special staged reading of “Strange Birds,” the 2025 Oregon Book Award-nominated play by acclaimed playwright E.M. Lewis on Thursday, March 6 at 7 p.m. at Fishtrap, 107 W. Main St. It features a talented cast under the direction of Melory Mirashrafi.

Booster Bash benefits Boardman programs

BOARDMAN — The 2025 Riverside Pirates Booster Bash is April 5, 5-9 p.m. at the Port of Morrow’s Riverfront Center, 2 Marine Drive.

The 21 and older event includes a tri-tip dinner, raffles, door prizes, a dessert auction and live/silent auctions. Only 150 tickets will be sold. They are $35 each and can be purchased at the RHS office or from coaching staff.

Mother/Son event tickets on sale now

PENDLETON — Mothers and their sons can level up their gaming and dance moves during a video game dance party.

Hosted by Pendleton Parks and Recreation, the Mother Son Digital Disco is April 19, 2-5 p.m. at the Pendleton Recreation Center, 510 SW Dorion Ave. Tickets go on sale Feb. 24 at 10 a.m. It’s open to sons ages 5-14 and their moms/mother figures.

Test your knowledge at trivia night

PENDLETON — Heritage Station Museum is planning a trivia night for Saturday, March 29, from 5-8 p.m.

The evening includes trivia, dinner by 3rd Generation BBQ, and a silent auction.

Teams can have up to six players. Tickets are $25 per person or $120 per table for a group of six.

Dinner options are: pulled pork sandwiches, chicken breast sandwiches, macaroni salad, baked beans and a green salad.
