LA GRANDE — La Grande has a tune-filled week coming up, highlighting music from many diverse genres.
Leading off, Portland-based rock band Morrison Graves is set to bring their unique sound to La Grande at HQ, 112 Depot St., on Thursday, April 17, at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15 at lagrandehq.com.
Known for their innovative blend of pre-doom and post-psychedelia, the band draws inspiration from 1960s psych/garage, Eastern modes and dark wave, creating what they call “neon-black tincture rock.” Their debut album, “Division Rising,” tackles pressing issues such as gentrification, homelessness, and socio-economic inequality, delivering a powerful concept album born out of the pandemic.
Sharing the stage will be Lucid Aisle, a dynamic rock band exploring genres like psychedelic, garage, dream pop and acid-punk. Their transcendent take on classic rock, paired with a poetic singer-songwriter aesthetic, promises a sonic journey through fuzzy tones, groovy rhythms and immersive soundscapes.
Hailing from La Grande, local duo Cut Hand, featuring Gregory and Ellis Rawlins, will also perform, adding a hometown flavor to this night of boundary-pushing music.
Caught Within
That same day, April 17, La Grande’s metal scene ignites with the debut show of local band Caught Within at the Riveria Activity Center, 2609 N. Second St. The band will perform their album “The Sevenfold” in its entirety, showcasing their intense and dynamic sound. This free event promises an evening of electrifying performances, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m. and the show kicking off at 6 p.m. The lineup also features Washington-based grunge metal duo Born Losers, known for their raw energy and gritty style, and La Grande’s own horrorcore rap artist SUBUTIA.
Hosted by Ricky Markwick, the three-hour event celebrates local talent and diverse musical genres. The Riveria Activity Center gymnasium will transform into a hub of creativity and community, offering attendees a chance to experience the cutting-edge sounds of emerging artists. Whether you’re a fan of metal, grunge, or horrorcore rap, this debut show has something for you. For more details, visit the bands’ social media pages or call 541-963-3186.
