The search is on! Easter egg hunts are planned around Eastern Oregon

EASTERN OREGON — The Easter Bunny, with help from service clubs, fraternal organizations, churches and community groups, is offering holiday fun throughout the region.
While Easter is Sunday, April 20, many activities are scheduled throughout the weekend. Unless otherwise noted, participation is free. Here’s what’s happening in Northeastern Oregon:
BAKER COUNTY
Baker City: The Baker City Rotary Club will again scatter Geiser-Pollman Park with eggs on Saturday, April 19. The Easter Bunny arrives at 9 a.m., and the hunt starts at 10 a.m. — be there at least 15 minutes early because the eggs go fast.
The park will be divided into age areas for children from toddlers to age 11. Some eggs have a slip for a special prize, which can be collected at the Bunnymobile.
The hunt is also supported by Birds on a Wire, Grocery Outlet, Dollar Tree and the Baker City Police Department.
Halfway: Rumor has it that the Easter Bunny will attend an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 19, at the Halfway Lions Club Park. The hunt begins at 10 a.m.
Huntington: The annual Easter egg hunt starts at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at Huntington School’s lower field. The area will be divided into age groups: preschool and younger; kindergarten to grade two; third to fifth grades. There will be one grand prize per age group.
Richland: An Easter egg hunt starts at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 19, at Holcomb Park near Richland. But you can show up early because Kathryn Prout will paint faces from 11 a.m. until the hunt starts.
GRANT COUNTY
Dayville: Dayville gets Easter weekend off to an active start with the 10th annual Bunny Hop 5K on Saturday, April 19. Registration starts at 8 a.m. in the park near Dayville Community Hall, followed by the race at 9 a.m. Entry is $20 per person, with proceeds supporting the community hall and future events.
The Easter egg hunt follows the race, around 10:15 a.m., at Dayville City Park for youngsters up to sixth grade.
John Day: The John Day Elks Lodge’s Easter egg scramble is at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19, at the Seventh Street Complex. There will be four age groups from ages 1-12.
Also, the John Day Fire Department will have an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 19, at noon at Grant Union High School. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be available before the hunt, and the Easter Bunny may make an appearance.
Mt. Vernon: All are invited to Easter festivities sponsored by the Mt. Vernon Fire Department on Saturday, April 19. The department will offer fire truck rides for kids from 9-10 a.m., followed by the egg hunt at 10 a.m. at the city park.
MORROW COUNTY
Boardman: Easter weekend kicks off in Boardman with a Flashlight Egg Hunt for teens on Friday, April 18, 8 p.m. at Boardman Marina Park, 1 W. Marine Drive. The Community Easter Egg Hunt for ages 0-12 returns to Boardman Marina Park on Saturday, April 19, at 10 a.m. And finally, participants can dive in for the Underwater Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Boardman Pool and Recreation Center, 311 NE Olson Road. Participants from 0-17 will plunge in by age groups. Pre-registration is required via bit.ly/3SYb0xP. The cost is $5 per person. For questions, call 541-616-1050.
Ione: An Easter egg hunt will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, at Ione City Park. Egg donations are being collected at the Ione branch of the Bank of Eastern Oregon, 280 Main St.
Irrigon: Irrigon Moose Lodge #2486 will hide eggs with candy and special prizes for children 11 and under. Also, snacks and juice will be available. The event is Saturday, March 19, 10 a.m. at the lodge, 220 NE Third St.
Then hop on over for the Easter Community EGGstravaganza at 11 a.m. at Irrigon Marina Park, 430 NE Eighth St. Family Worship Center coordinates the annual event. For questions, call 541-922-3054.
UMATILLA COUNTY
Adams: Their Easter Egg Hunt will start at 10 a.m. in the Adams City Park. Organizers note that egg hunts are typically games for children, but now it has become a family-friendly affair.

Athena: The annual East Umatilla Fire & Rescue Easter Egg Hunt will be at 10 a.m. at Athena City Park. Ages 0 to fifth grade are invited to search for eggs. There will be different areas for age groups.
Echo: The annual Echo Easter Egg Hunt includes candy, cash and prizes. There are three hunting grounds for different age groups — ages 3 and under will hunt at Echo Community Church; ages 4-8 at George Park; and ages 9-12 at the Echo High School football field.
Hermiston: The lights will go out at 8 p.m. and the stars will shine during the Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt in Hermiston. This year’s event is Friday, April 18, at Butte Park, 1245 NW Seventh St.
Children 10 and under need to bring their own flashlight, headlamp or cell phone to help illuminate their way while collecting Easter eggs. There will be a lighted area for younger children.

Pendleton: Pendleton Eagles Lodge No. 28 is soaring into spring with its annual community Easter egg hunts on Saturday, April 19. Children ages 2-6 will gather at Pioneer Park, 400 NW Despain Ave., and those 7-12 at Roy Raley Park, 1205 SW Court Ave. Both events start at 9 a.m. For more information, call 541-278-2828.
Milton-Freewater: The Milton-Freewater Kiwanis Club and Rotary Club will hold its annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19, at 9 a.m. SHARP! at Yantis Park (next to the swimming pool), for ages 1 to 10. Parking can fill up fast, so arrive early or you may have to walk.
Stanfield: Children ages 0-12 are invited to participate in the annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 19, 10 a.m. at Coe Park, on West Coe Avenue. The annual event is hosted by Stanfield Moose Lodge #920. For questions or to help with preparations on Friday, call 541-449-3304.
Umatilla: Umatilla Parks and Recreation is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on Friday, April 18, 7 p.m. at Umatilla Marina Park, 1710 Quincy Ave. Children ages 2 and up are invited to the egg-citing adventure. For more information, call 541-922-3226.
Weston: 10 a.m. is when the Weston Easter Egg Hunt will start in Elliott Park. The hunt is for tots through fourth grade. There will be fun and prizes — including the “Golden Egg”!
UNION COUNTY
Cove: An Easter egg hunt returns to Cove this year, along with other activities, on Saturday, April 19. A free community breakfast will be offered from 9-11 a.m. at Ascension School’s Founders Hall, 1104 Church St., and the egg hunt starts at 10 a.m. outside, followed by games and face painting.
This event is organized by the Ascension School, Cove Community Association, Cove FFA and the city of Cove.
Elgin: The annual Easter egg hunt, sponsored by the Women’s Service Club, starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, at Stella Mayfield Elementary’s field, which will be divided into age groups.
Imbler: The Imbler FFA Chapter will host an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 19, 10 a.m. at the Imbler High School football field.
La Grande: Grande Ronde Retirement, 1809 Gekeler Road, will have an Easter egg hunt on Friday, April 18 at 4 p.m. The hunt will go by ages: 0-4, 4-6, 7-9 and 10-12. Hot dogs and chips will be served, and the Easter Bunny will visit for photos.
On Saturday, April 19, La Grande Sunrise Rotary’s Easter egg hunt is happening at the Union County Fairgrounds. The Easter Bunny arrives at 9:45 a.m., and the hunt starts at 10 a.m. The area will be divided into five age groups up to age 10. The hunt is presented by Elkhorn Media Group and Goss Motors, with Bi-Mart as the candy sponsor.
WALLOWA COUNTY
Enterprise: The Enterprise Elks will put on an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 19, at Jensen Fields behind Safeway. The hunt begins promptly at 10 a.m., so be there early. The area will be divided into four age categories. Elks members and their families who want to help color eggs can meet at the lodge on Friday, April 18, at 6 p.m.
A community dinner is planned for Sunday, April 20, after the 11 a.m. service at Enterprise Community Congregational Church, 301 NE First St. All are welcome.
Joseph: The Joseph Chamber of Commerce, with sponsor Rahn Sanitary, will have an Easter egg hunt on Saturday, April 19, at 9 a.m. at Joseph City Park.
Wallowa: The city of Wallowa will host an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, at the Wallowa Lions Park for ages 0-11. The event features special prize eggs and a chance to meet the Easter Bunny.
